You know ....after all this hoopla about the 32k and some of icyhot's comments..I said what the hell...ordered one through ebay..called Cingular (who were somewhat reluctant to program a 32k card). Finally talked them into doing it....WOW....it worked like a champ...I live in West Sacramento...not only does it solve call log issue..sim card copying problem...but I swear..I get a better siganl...I kid you not....so yet another case from the 32k X-Files...enjoy

Yes I agree it provides better reception. Been meaning to post that since way back when. Thanks for bringing that info to the forefront. I'm glad the 32k is working out for you. Now you can enjoy your "new" 6682.

is there any downside to using the 32k? whats the difference between the two besides the obvious..32k ..64k..if the 32k fixes the problem right up i might just get one.

The Cingular rep told me .."Well... you might lose some 64k specific options....". When I asked him to define that..he couldn't.. So as I've mentioned...I can find no error with this 32k approach. I've powered the phone some 4 to 5 times...still holds all data.. Funny side to this...when the rep had re-programmed card...did a test call..he mentioned .."did you move to somewhere else in your house..." I told him that would be a "No".. He just said ....your're a lot louder and clearer....hmmmmm. Lastly..this was a replacement phone by the way..had exact same issues on first phone..called Cingular who immediately said..."you've got bad hardware...will send you another phone...". Got replacement phone...same damn thing...So the comments about ju...

Of course he couldn't define any. Most of those guys don't know black from white. Isn't their fault. I'm sure they haven't been properly trained. You will run into people on these forums, i.e. customers, reps and techs who know much more than they do at 611.

The only difference between a 64k and 32k to my knowledge is two things...a 64k sim has more network balancing ability...meaning it will put you on a specific tower according to the call volume in your area at that time. That and a 64k sim will hold more text messages....thats about it.

I would.

I have done the tests.

64ks do lose logs and ask to copy sim.

I did not use the 64k sim for more than 1 second calls to have log entries, so I can not speak on the improved singnal comment. I have typical Nokia reception. Very good.

With a 32k sim.

I had no problem switching to the 32k card. The cingular rep didn't even ask me why I wanted to use a different sim. Like most here, it fixed the call log and copy contacts issues for me.
