My new 512mg card arrived today (yeah...the same day Kingston put a list price on there 1mg card 🤭 ). Do I have to copy the files and apps from my current 64mg card to the new one? If so, how would I do it?

Thanks

My new 1 GB card for my 6680 arrived a week ago from Kingston. 😁

For things saved on the card, like programs, media files, etc, you need to copy them to the new card.

Nokia Suite's Backup does not properly transfer programs as it does not back up hidden files and directories which hold info about installed programs. You need to use a memory card reader and transfer all files on the old card to the new one. You can do it in Windows but I chose n...

I tried to use the Backup suite. Thinking that just copying it wouldn't work. That was a mistake and I had to reinstall everything that was on the card.

Spoke with Nokia this morning and they said PC Suite won't copy copywriten files, incl. ringtones, music, etc. He wouln't talk about Oxygen. He said, unofficially, that with a card reader, I should be able to copy to my PC and then over to the new MMC. I'll update once I try.

Wow, thats utterly stupid. Shouldn't a backup program actually backup ALL the files? Stupid copyright lawyers.

So, I need to find a new MMC for my 6682- is the Kingston DV RS MMC the only one I can use? What is Ghost? Do I need to by a mem card reader? Basically-what do I need to use a new mem card in my phone, b/c I still have the original in my phone and I seriously don't want to f*#k up my phone by doing the wrong thing.

No. Any DV RS MMC (aka MMCMobile) can be used, but you have to make sure it's DV (dual voltage), as most RS-MMCs are not. I got Kingston because it's the only 1GB card available at this time, and the price was all right.

What is Ghost?

But as I said, you don't absolutely need to use Ghost. Just copying the files while you're in Windows should work fine too.

Do I need to by a mem card reader?

Yes, and they are not all that expensive. MMC/SD USB readers a...
