bluetooth problem with new car

My new car (Infiniti 2006 G35 coupe) comes with a factory installed blue tooth device. I bought my 6682 on 12/15 from letstalk.com for $99 after rebate. The phone is pearl white with old firmware which I just found out is UNLOCKED.

I've paired my 6682 with my car and everything is going great, but whenever I place a call using the car and when the other party picks up the bluetooth connection would drop and transfer me back to the phone. Just to be clear, I don't loose the call...only the the bluetooth connection drops. I've also paired my car with a Moto Razr and it works perfectly!

Could this be a firmware issue? I'm debating if I should do a warranty exchange or not. If I do than Cingular will probably send my a LOCKED phone b...

The experience I've had with bluetooth systems in cars, and headphones (handsfree) is that the manufacturers of these systems, "typically" pick a batch of phones (motoroloa, SE, NOKIA, Samsung, etc), not necessarily every phone from these manufacturers, and test their systems with these phones.....

Having said that keep in mind, whatever firmware is on these phones, is the one that is "certified" by the bluetooth vendor who puts the system in the cars..........meaning, and I've seen this, if you bought say a nokia 6230......the model they tested and confirmed, may be a different firmware version than the one you purchase at a later date........

This can be one source of issues, so I'd begin by checking to see what phones & firmware ver...

Thanks for your reply and input. I don't know anyone else that has the Nokia 6682 so I can't test it out to see if it's just my phone or if it's the entire model line-up. I checked Infiniti's website and the Nokia phones they recommend include: 3620, 3660, 6230, 6620, 6820, 6820i, 6310i, and N-Gage. I don't know what firmware these phones come with or what series these are.

And I just got my 6682 a month ago too 😡 - assuming that all bluetooth phones should be compatible with my bluetooth car. Since my phone is not on Infiniti's recommended list I don't think the dealer will do anything to solve the problem either. So I guess I might just have to do a warranty exchange with Cingular and get a locked phone with the updated firmware ...

What I've been able to figure out is that "should" doesn't always translate into "will".........

Per my previous note, I'm using a bluetooth headset, which works with some very old phones it probably was never tested with.......it has problems with a phone "it should" be compatible with (SE W600), if I step down to the lower model of bluetooth headset (same manufacturer) I don't have any problem.....

Good Luck

I have similiar issues with with my hs810 headset and my 6682 with 3.01.1 unbranded. sometimes it doesnt connect to the phone... sometimes it connects, then drops, and when it does finally connect the button on the headset doesnt usually work. it's seriously annoying.

anyone else using a hs810 or hs850 on their 6682? any problems? what firmware?

v 4.62.0; 28-10-05; RM-58
works just fine with my HS850. I only hear static when HS850 needs to be charged - that's the only issue for me.
