Samsung PM-A840
PM vs. MM vs. AA
RL = ReadyLink
PM = Picture Messaging
MM = Multimedia
IP = International Phone
SP = Smart Phone
I don't think there is an "AA".
When SS was at only two carriers. SCH were "cellular" models destined to Verizon, while SPH were PCS models destined to Sprint.
SCH: Samsung Cellular Handset
SPH: Samsung PCS Handset.
I don't know if this is the case now.
They do that in Korea - where nearly all networks and phones are single-band, so the SPH and SCH designations are very important.
They also do that with US phones. As you said, SPH usually means Sprint, and SCH is Verizon. Although there are a few exceptions. The SPH-i700 is one example - it was an "SPH" phone, presumably planned for Sprint, but in the in end it was only carried by Verizon.
New to Phone Scoop.
Wondering if someone could tell me about the samsung model numbers.
SCH= ...CDMA.... or ....Cellular.....??
SGH=...GSM... Makes perfect sense. no question.
SPH= ...PCS...??
Why would they not just have SGH or SCH, why did they introduce SPH. If SPH does stand for PCS, than couldnt that technically be GSM OR CDMA.
Was SPH meant just for sprint for something?
Is there anywhere in the model number to see whether it supports AMPS?
Thanks
