hi all, i think this phone is a very nice phone. i was playing with one that my buddy just got for cingy. wondering if anyone knows if there will be a similar version for verizon? i know there's that 6700, but i think it looks like crap compared to this one.
thanks!

For the most part, the 6700 looks like a close relative of the HTC Wizard platform. In fact, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a Wizard. It shares most of the platforms main features: slide out keyboard, Windows Mobile 5.0, dedicated softkey buttons on face and keyboard, etc. I don't work for Verizon or HTC, so I cannot say with 100% certainty that it is a Wizard-based platform, but like I said, it looks that way.

As far as "looks" go, the T-Mobile MDA looks little to nothing like the Cingular 8125, yet they are basically the exact same hardware. When the next generation of Wizard comes out (I think it's currently called the Hermes or some such), expect to see a Verizon-based variant as well.

I think VZW is pushing the Treo 700W which is similar and is selling well.

There is a big difference between the Treo and the Wizard, however. The Treo has a square resolution format (240x240) whereas the Wizard is 240x320. That extra resolution makes ALL the difference in the world to some people (myself included).

This is the same reason the new HP devices do nothing for me regardless of their other features. Without that extra resolution, the device doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. But like I said, other people don't know the difference or don't mind it at all.
