SILENCE!!!

Is there any way to silence the phone when it gets a text message or voicemail?? I know I can silence a phone when it gets a call.

Start -> Settings -> (Personal Tab) ->Sounds & Notifications -> (Notifications Tab) ->

Among others there is an option for:

Voicemail
New Text Message
New MMS Message
New Email Message
...

Thanks for your response, I know about assigning sounds to it, but the way I mean is that you know how when you get a call and you can slide the volume button down and it silence it, I was wondering is there a way to do that for text and voicemails. I apologize for not being clear.

It's the same. If you slide that down it will turn off all notifications. What hamm3r is saying is you can set the notification sound to none. Then you don't have to use the slider it just won't make a noise.
