LG VX-8500 Chocolate
No Chocolate for BMW now?
I'd be baffled if Verizon dropped support for BMW, but, sure enough, it's not on the Verizon compatability matrix for that car.

Verizon is really going insane with what they are doing with Bluetooth Profiles. Every BMW is shipping with the BT module these days. While Lexus and Toyota have been battling with Verizon for 2 years to get phonebook transfer, now BMW is getting the shaft.

the bluetooth works though, you just voicedial through your phone instead of car right? So you just hit the talk button and voicedial or use that to answer calls and what not? I am just wondering because i have set a few up on toyota, acura with no issues.
No, it works like the original V710 did on BMW. Pairs fine with the car and then craps out as soon as it tries to synch with the PB on the car.
On the Toyota, you need OBEX/OPP to push the phonebook to the car on demand. It will still pair for an audio connection, and you just live without the in-dash phonebook features.

I guess a better way to word my question would be if bluetooth in the bmw can function the same way a bluetooth headset would work without downloading you contacts into car?
No, the Synchronization profile of Bluetooth works on it's own. There is no user intervention.

but you can use the handsfree at leaste. right? or do you just totally get screwed?
No, what happens is like when the old V710 tried to synch. The whole connection craps out when the car tries to get the phonebook with the BT Synch. Synch is not a user controlled event!
The Choc works like the old V710 before they fixed that.
