LG enV VX-9900
EVDO Revision A + MediaFlo
I was thinking about getting the enV, but had a couple of questions about it. First, will Verizon release an upgrade to this model that will be able to use the new high speed / Revision A network's speeds? Or, will a software upgrade (at the store) allow the higher speeds?
Secondly, I know there was some questions about this some time ago, but does anyone know if an updated version of this phone will be released that will be capable of using the new MediaFlo technology (when released)?
Thanks for your help!
Thanks!
I was under the impression that the enV could already make use of the EVDO-RevA data network. 🙄
Rumors were circulating before the 9900 was released that the enV would have the Qualcomm Media-Flo chipset. As far as I have seen the enV may have the capability for Media-flo, and could potentially be utilized via a software upgrade. But, all the VZW CS reps that I have spoken to have no idea about this, and simply tell me to get the 9400 if I want VZW "TV" 🙄
But, did you hear the rumors about the 9900 having Qualcomm's MediaFlo chipset? If this is indeed the case, do you think (hypothetically) that possibly through a software upgrade, VZW could add "mobile TV" just as they added the "MOD" player to other phones in the past? Provided that our current 9900's had MediaFlo chips in them? 👀
1. No it will not be upgradable to Rev A.
2. The phone does not have the Media Flo chipset.
So in short, your envy is the way it is. Next generation model most definately should have these features though.
