LG enV VX-9900
DISABLE EVDO
Press "OK"
Press "0"
Enter six "0's" (zero's) as the service code
-you are now in the service menu-
Select "3" Network Select
Select "1" Mode Preference
Choose "1X Only" to turn EVDO off
Choose "Digital Only Hybrid" to turn EVDO back on ๐
Note: be careful in the service menu, you could change the wrong thing and end up killing your phone ๐คจ
If you live in a fringe area with a really weak EVDO signal, then this method will increase battery life by not constantly searching for an EVDO signal. So, if your phone wants to have longer battery life, then turning EVDO off is "Good" for your phone.
To sum up: Disabling the ability of your phone to get the EVDO signal will not harm your phone in any way, but data will take longer to transfer and you may get longer battery life. ๐คจ

Bad for the phone? If your phone likes to get the EVDO Data signal and transfer data at high-speeds and you turn this feature off, then yes, it's "bad " for your phone. ๐

i have the newer orange version, running SW Version T99VO02. the first 0 is really captial "o" tho.
is there something i could be doing wrong?
open phone,
press: ##77647269900 (#-#-P-R-O-G-R-A-M-9900) then "send"
this then will give you the prompt for the "service code" which is 6-zeros "000000"
Hope this helps! ๐
Note use "sym 3" to get "#" with keyboard open
Qualcomm's program uses the service code of "000000" to get into parts of the filesystem on LG phones. Verizon did this (coupled with a BitPim block) so less people could hack the phone. ๐
it does work...
not sure about battery life differences yet...maybe in a week or so i'll repost if i noticed any changes.
