Alright I need help on this one, and please be biased, do not take one side just because you have that phone (preferably people who work w/verizon or have experience with both)

Which is a better cell phone? I will give you my honest take on the Samsung because I just bought it two days ago...

The samsung is the hottest phone out right now, lookwise, in my opinion. I really like that i have it an no one else really does yet. i dont mind the camera, however the env's 2.0 is appealing. i think the speakerphone, texting, different menu layouts, are all great. Heres what I'm really getting down to as my worry and why I may switch to the EnV....
THE DOUBLE HINGE scares the hell out of me! I went back into verizon to try to get...

samsung wins in the size category, but i am with you, not sure if i trust that double hinge. There was a gsm model that had similar hinge and the old samsung camcorder phone for verizon had a similar syatem as well. Both those phone were bigger, both those phones didn't hold up. So smaller size and failed design in the past leads me to beleive that it will need to be handled with care if it is to last two years.

Now onto the env. I hav ethis phone so maybe i am a little biased, but i can tell you why i choose it. First i like reading and texting with the phone clsed if it something quick, i know it doesn't take long to flip open a phone, but you get a beep from a message and just slide it out of your pocket it is there on the front... i ...

That's exactly how I felt about my enV which I bought in early January, when they were still very hard to find. Now, of course, that feeling is gone. So, that's not a very good reason to buy a phone - the newness of it lasts about a month tops.

I haven't tried the camera on the samsung, but I have to say that 2 megapixels seems like a bear minimum to me, and the samsung only has 1.3.

Does the samsung include the navigator? I didn't buy the phone for that purpose, but now I have it, I think it kicks ass. And what's cool about it is if you don't use...

i read all the reviews and decided to go with the samsung U740 because its compact size. big mistake! the buttons were way too small. even my nephew with small fingers had a hard time with it. i found myself constantly having to hit the backspace button to correct the wrong letters being typed because my thumbs would hit two letters at a time. texting and navigating wasnt comfortable at all. also, the screen was very small(the same as a regular flip). i exchanged for the LG enV 9900 and life is good now. the keyboard layout is so so much better and the overall quality and build of the phone is much stronger. its much more user friendly and the size really isnt bad considering all the stuff you can do with this phone. my one big fear was the ...

I've played around with the Samsung u740 in the Verizon store. In all honestly, I don't like it at all. For being a qwerty keyboard phone, it doesn't do a good job of it. The keys are so small and close together that for me it's very hard to type on it and I don't have fat fingers. I think the interface on it is also a bit awkward and weird. They keyboard on the EnV is speaced out well, large buttons, and everything is where it should be.

IF you have big fingers than the 740 would not be a good choice for you. Everyone is different. I was very disappointed in the 9900 software bug that made me exchange it for the 740 if it wasen't for that I would probabely still have had the Env

You're right, everyone is different. I"m just saying that for me, the qwerty keyboard on the samsung u-740 isn't the best one. I still think the EnV's keyboard is the best. So far, my EnV is fine. I love it. It's louder than my 9800 was ringer wise. Ilike that. I don't always have to keep it on medium high and I can still hear it.

Well, for me I think the 740 is the best especially the razr like size. Also, if I need to send a text (very rarely) I love the speech to text function. Also the 740 has a louder ringer

I agree, if you text very rarely, then the u-740 is probably a better choice for a phone. I'm just saying for people who text a lot like myself, the qwerty keyboard on that phone isn't that goood. And in my opinion, compared to my 9800 (V) It sounds like the ringtones are louder which I like which is what i said before as well. Different phones for different purposes.

I had an 815 and the ring tones on that sounded ok on the 9900 it sounded pretty low and on the 740 it sounds loud.

In my opinion, after owning the 9800 for almost a year, the EnV definitely sounds louder to me. I love it.

I've never had a phone with the sound quality, battery & camera/video of the EnV, including PDA's.

Which software bug? Thankfully so far, my EnV has been excellent. I can't complain about anything so far. I think LG makes top quality along with Samsung and Motorola although in my opinion, Motorola sucked with the Razr.

Well, put your phone into "tones only" mode then voice dial. You cannot disconnect the call unless you press end 3 times there were times the call was connected and I was in menu mode and did not even know and had to keep pressing end.
