is it worth it? what can you do? can you go to every website? sorry if these sound like dumb questions. i have never used the web on a phone like this. the only web ive used on a phone is on the sidekick and that was pretty cool.

Well. The $5/month mobile web Verizon offers (using their proxy) is actually quite sufficient for simple browsing of most websites (note: flash or java-based websites don't display very well). If you are expecting it to be anything like the web on a sidekick, you may be disappointed, and if you are expecting to be able to watch youtube vids, or browse myspace, you may just want a device that can actually handle these things. The enV works great for just checking email (hotmail, gmail, etc...) or for checking out simple websites. But, I have found that most graphic-intensive websites take a while to load and don't show up very well on the handset, plus I usually end up scrolling quite a bit to get to the info I want on the site. While i...

Ashaneen,
Thanks for the info you provided on Verizon's Mobile Web feature. I am thinking of buying an enV, and I am still a little confused about all of the different data packages available. I see from your comments that Mobile Web is $5 a month. However, I understand that the while this is a cheaper monthly rate, that the downside is that the time that you spend on the web is deducted from your minutes?!? Is this true? I've talked to three different Verizon sales reps, and all of them have given me slightly different information about all of the different data options.
Any help/advice you can offer on this and/or any of the other data packages will be greatly appreciated.
Also, have you used your enV to sync your Outlook ...

When you get the $5 Mobile Web subscription, it does use your minutes. However, If you have unlimited minutes during off-peak, I guess you technically have it "unlimited" during those rate periods. However, if you get the VCast - VPak which is $15/month, that includes all those video clips and stuff, but also includes unlimited mobile web that does not deduct from your minutes.
I actually get the $5 mobile web, $5 250 txt/pix messages, and $5 Mobile E-mail. I have 1400 minutes, so I never have a problem.
Also, I have successfully been syncing my Outlook calendar appointments to the enV - you have to use BitPim. I haven't tried the contacts, but I think you may be able to as well.
Hope this helps!

Honestly, I'd love to use Mobile Web on my enV. I mean hell, that's half of the phone right there but I can't afford $15/month a month and $5/month yeah I'd eat uip my peak min, because I'm not waiting untill after 9 to use the web. That'd be stupid. I went into Verizon, messed around w/ their enV, and honestly, websites such as Carand Driver, Motortrend, CNN, NYTIMES, etc did come up easily. I'm big into cars, and these webstites had a decent amount of pictures associated w/ their website. Sure, it took the phone longer to load them up but not too much longer and it did eventually load up. I am happy to say that the enV can now access Facebook.com for college students as well as the famous MYSPACe. haha. I hope this helps as well.
