Text message icon "I"- what is that?
enVlkNov 16, 2007, 2:29 PM
I sent a text message to 2 different people. In my sent folder, next to the message I sent, there's a white "I" in a red box, instead of the usual green check mark in a white box.
When I opened the message, under person #1's name it says "message delivered...etc" but under person #2's name it doesn't say this.
I'm assuming that #2 did not receive my text. But what does the "I" mean? I've never seen it before. If #2 didn't get my message, wouldn't I have gotten a text back to me saying that the message didn't go through?
What is "I"?

Hmmm, so I just got a text message back from person #2. So she did get my message after all. However the "I" is still there in my sent folder. Wonder what it means?

i have noticed that when you send a message to a non verizon phone or some e mail addresses that a check never appears but they did get the message. "i" i think stands for independant? I dunno? It only appears when a message is sent to 2 or more people. Hope i helped a little.

From what I understand, when you send a txt to multiple people, if they are all on VZW and all receive the message, then it will have a checkmark.
If you send an individual txt to a non-VZW phone, it will just have a sent arrow. However, if you sent a txt message to multiple recipients - some that are VZW and some non-VZW, the message to non-VZW devices will be marked as INCOMPLETE (hence the "I").
Hope this helps!
