Front screen / Upgrade to VX-9900

Hi everyone, I was thinking about purchasing this phone, but after I saw it in the Verizon store, two things concern me:
First, the external screen does seem to be small. Does anyone who owns this phone find this to be a problem or annoying? (I currently have a VX8000, whose external screen is large compared to the enV).
Second, is it annoying that the phone needs to be opened to use the speaker phone feature?

Also, I know that this phone is an upgrade to the VX-9800. But since this is the VX-9900, what will be the phone that eventually replaces this one? Is there any data or information available yet on this?

Thank you for the help.

As far as the front screen goes...I never really use it. Anytime I need to use the phone for anything other than a call I just flip the thing open. It's really nothing to worry about.

Speakerphone, now that I don't have a great answer for since I never really use speakerphone, i use bluetooth if anything. I have used the speakerphone a few times and it doesnt really bother me that you have to keep it open...the speakers are kinda dull with it closed anyways.

It's a good phone

I've heard and read so many complaints about the phone having to be open for speaker phone that on a recent tech support call I asked the rep. She said it's because the stereo speakers are on the inside! That makes too much sense. Closed you would not get to hear much of a conversation. Just FYI

As far as the external screen being small, doesn't bother me at all. All I use that for is to see who is calling anyway. Any thing I may do on the phone (VCAST, mobile web, text, etc.) I do on the inside screen which is amazing.

As far as speakerphone, I barely use it, but when I do, it's no big deal to me to have it open. For instance, I use it in the bathroom when I'm getting ready and have it sitting on the counter. Doesn't really matter what position it's in, IMO. It works great, so that's all that matters.

Since this phone just came out, there is no word yet on a replacement. Give it a couple months or so and you will probably hear somthing on here.
