i just got my new laptop today and i was just wondering if anybody has used their 9900 as a modem yet. if anybody has any info on how to do this and on how not to get caught by verizon would be helpful. thanks in advance.

Yes people use their 9900's as modems all the time. "Tethering" can be done via Bluetooth or USB cable and as an added bonus: It violates your Terms Of Service, unless you have a Data Plan 😁
