Watch DVD movies on the 9900?
First; sorry if i am double spacing. my spacebar sticks sometimes and i am sick of going back to delete the extra space.
Ok. I heard that the 9900 is capable of viewing dvd movies that are put onto the memory card. I would love to do that during down time at my work or traveling. I don't know how this is done and would like information on how to do it.
I was reading the consumer reports on this phone and a person who goes by 7thquedog wrote that you can do it through a 3GP transfer.
Can someone let me know what 3GP is and how it can be done. I'm sure I need to buy a third party software to do it.
If someone knows how to do it I would appreciate it if they could let me know how it can be done. Thanks in a...

You have to convert it to .3gp by using a converter (google .3gp converter or try IMTOO.com). Find one and it will explain how to do it. After it's converted, put it in your MY_FLIX folder on your card.

ur not gonna get much of a movie on the max 1gb microsd card u must use . tell the truth here ppl . anybody that knows anything about technology knows u cannot fit 4 or 5 gb's on 1gb.

Thanks for your input DrunkMonkey. But if you knew anything about re-coding movies to .3gp/.3g2/.mp4 format, you wold know that the file size dramatically decreases when you re-code movies for mobile devices. And if you knew anything about the max card size on this phone, you would know that the max MicroSD size is 2GB for this phone.
When I create a full-length movie from a DVD for my 9900, they end up being aroud ~200Megs for a whole 2 hour movie (depending on various encoding/resolution settings). So on ...

ar eu sure the enV takes 2gb . that is not what i have read. i am not doubting you , i just want positive affirmation .

My 2GB Sandisk works fine in my 9900. Many others here can coroborate the fact that a 2GB MicroSD (transflash) card works flawlessly with the 9900. Or you can call VZW, they will tell you the same information. 😁

Just use yasa dvd to 3gp converter to convert dvd movies to 3gp mp4 video. it works very well.

Well I hope you didn't buy that software. My only suggestion is to go to download.com and search for a new 3gp converter with a little less hassle. I had the Anchorman on my phone, ready to watch in under 10 minutes.

ok sorry. maybe iam doing it wrong. this is what i did. i put a dvd in and added all those files into imtoo. it them converted all of them. so i now have 20 or so files that are converted. i put all those on the 9900 and they all play but not as a whole movie. iam thinking i need to get all this into one file to drag onto the 9900 memory card. thanks for all the help.

What I have done is to convert the files onto 3gp2 format (I have the 9800) so I am assuming it is the same.
When you click to find the dvd, it finds it and ckecks off all the chapters to download.
You proceeded and you have all these files that are not all the whole dvd.
What you need to do is look at the one checked box and the one that is almost two hours long. Put it on 320x240 for on video size for best results. That is the one you want. Uncheck all the others, those are not needed. Press "browse" to see where you want the one file to be downloaded. You want it under "flix"
After it is downloaded, go to "my computer and look at your memory card under "flix" you will see a folder where the file you just downloaded is. ...
