Choosing the right plan/options
I recently purchased a 9900 and had a question about data plans and options. If all I want to do is send/receive a few emails with gmail, and occasionally check out a website or two, do I need to purchase a data plan? It seems that a lot of you are doing this...I just want to make sure I dont get hit with a huge bill at the end of the month.
Also, whats up with VCast? Does this allow you to have unlimited web access (without using you voice minutes)?
Thanks all..

If you just want to send/receive a few emails with gmail and occasionally check out a website or two, yes you do need to get a data plan, which in your case that is $5 for the mobile web. Keep in mind that while you are checking or sending email, along with surfing the web that you ARE using airtime.
If you are going to be using the phone to surf the web and send/recieve emails alot more than just a few times, the Vcast service will be better for you. With the Vcast you can surf the web without using any of your minutes.
With the vcast service that is when you can also check the news, weather, sports...etc aswell.
Hope this helps

Yes, this helps. I get the fact that Vcast will allow me to surf the web without using my minutes, but what about data charges? As long as I'm not viewing email attachments, do you think I'm pretty safe NOT getting one of their data plans (I think Verizon has a 10mb plan for $25 and an unlimited plan for $45).
I dont think I'll need these plans it if I stick to just email and web surfing,...seems like Vcast would be all I need.
Thanks again for your help.

You cannot open up email attachments with the 9900. The data features packages are only for PDA phones. This phone is not a PDA
