I get a new phone about every 6 months or so, so I got this phone back in September, and so far it's been awful.

PROS:

- Nice Sleek design, not too thick slides easily into pocket.

- Pretty Good Camera.

CONS:

- Buttons. The buttons are so small, and close together, as a girl with nails who texts alot, I still find it a pain to text.

- Screen goes crazy. My phone goes crazy, I'm not sure if its just mine, but the screen goes crazy when I slide it open sometimes, the screen just goes white, and fades black and won't respond.

- Sucky battery. I have to charge my phone twice a day, sometimes more.

- Phone freezes alot. My phone freezes all the time.

sigh...

wow not great lg. i had to go to the verizon store over 10 times in one week with problems with this phone. mostly because it kept freezing up or there were broken keys.

pros

-great for music
-nice sleek design
-barely noticable in your pocket

CONS
-very small keys
-ive noticed the sensativity of the phones
sensor keys varies between the phones

Too Sensitive

I tried to like this phone, but after one day, I returned it and "downgraded" to an LG 8350, which I already love more after just having it for one hour. The sensor keys and the track wheel is OVER sensitive. Every time I tried to mess with the menus or send text, I would hit these keys accidentally and the whole menu would go haywire and I would screw up things. Even on the lowest settings, these keys were still over sensitive! Not to mention, for this to be a music phone, the speaker was horribly low and somewhat distorted.

Pro's
Colors are nice

Con's
Keys and track wheel are over sensitive
Speaker sound is low and distorted

The Chocolate wasn't so tasty after all!

I was really excited about this phone when I first purchased it. It looked beautiful, was attractive in every way, had a lot of cool features, including a good camera. However, the superficial features of this phone faded very quickly as reality set in. I had 3 major, exasperating problems with this phone:

1. The snazzy wheel that is so highly promoted was unwieldy. Every time I would use my finger to turn the navigation wheel, it would accidentally touch the touch-sensitive controls -- usually, it would be that I accidentally touched the "clear" command, and I would have to start all over again with what I was doing.
2. The touch-sensitive controls are too sensitive! Even when I turned it down to 'low', I still had problems with it. This is a terrible design!!! Any time I talk on the phone, my cheek would inevitably touch one of those 'controls' and I would get buzzed at (it vibrates to let you know that you pushed something). Horrible, horrible! I hate this feature!!! It caused me so much trouble. Great idea in theory but really stupid in practice.
3. The call quality was HORRIBLE!! I live in southern california where Verizon coverage is AWESOME. However, while using this phone, the other person was always distorted and unclear. I had to repeatedly ask, "What was that? Can you repeat that?" There was a terrible echo, and turning the volume up meant that I was hearing the distortion at a LOUDER volume. It did not help me understand the other person better.

The reason why I purchase a phone is in order to make phone calls. I expect to get good reception and great call quality. I expect to be able to hear the other person. This phone is attractive, "sleek and sexy", but it does not do what it's supposed to do. Seriously, the only thing I want sleek and sexy is my husband, because at least HE can communicate.

Bottom line? I am returning my phone tomorrow and I highly discourage you from making the purchase of an LG Chocolate Disaster.

BITTER NASTY CHOCOLATE

I love Chocolate but I didnt know the Japanese made chocolate.
This lousy phone is not much better than the old one. Defintely not a "Mr. Goodbar" more like Chock full of nuts.

The touch screen is so sensitive (like a chick)
It gets fingerprints (AHHHHHHH)
and it gets the worst battery perfromance
why would i ever listen to music on this thing. IT SUCKS THE BATTEERY.

I would rather use a cup and string to talk someome off a building from jumping because they wasted their hard earned money on this pile of smelly melted lava chocolate

Verizon "Can you hear me now"?????? Dump this thing before it kills you
Maybe I will melt mine and make fondue

strike 2 for LG

Ok, I currently work in the wireless industry so I'll go ahead and point out the PRO's and get straight to the Con's of the VX8550:

PROS:
Its nice looking
Sounds good...

CONS:
Not much of a change from the VX8500!

Let me say this, LG makes outstanding phones...however they fell flat with the VX8500 and now the VX8550. I was expecting a complete redesign and overhaul of previous VX8500 issues but it didn't happen. Old VX8500 issues included blank screens, the touchscreen going crazy, dialing unexpectedly and poor battery performance and worse...the slider comes apart (a known issue). The current slide mechanism on the VX8550 is faulty too, I have seen numerous come right out of the box NEW and have slider malfunction! Crazy isn't it?

I would recommend sticking to other LG models that are proven good phones such as the VX8300, VX8700, VX9900...

Good luck in selecting a new phone...

Sexy Phone

I got this phone when my two year upgrade came around. It's very sexy, sleek, smooth and shiny. The round menu is nice and the screen is brilliant, crisp and clear. I had two issues with the phone however which I find unacceptable. First the voice dialing wasn't as good as my wife's Motorola Razr. It asked too many questions and couldn't distinguish between names it shouldn't have had difficulty with. These are the same contacts I can call on my wife's Razr with no problems. The second issue killed the phone for me. It froze up on me several times while trying to watch video. I loaded several videos to the phone and had the issue intermittently with all of them.

I took the phone back today and got the Samsung SCHU 740. The voice dialing on this phone is far superior. The same video clips I had difficulty with on the Chocolate play flawlessly on the Samsung. The Samsung is a superior phone.

In all the Chocolate seems more suited to teenie boppers than business men. I have an ipod for when I travel so the music function is no big deal. Also most cellphones have MP3 capability now, although the music menu on the Chocolate is very nice.

Nice phone, but more style than substance in my opinion.

nice phone, made cheap

phone has alot of great features, way to many to list, but i traded my off for a different phone, i didnt like the slider, and it really feels cheaply made, my first one i sent back because of the slide was loose, and the second was getting loose!! so the 8500 is more solid phone!!! but to each his own!!!
