I've had this phone for a few weeks and I really like it alot so far. Switched from Motorola Razr to this and I'm happy I did. No regrets.

Pros:
LOUD ear piece. Never had a phone I had to turn the volume down on. Great sound.

Unbelievable signal. Crystal clear calls with Verizon.

Scroll wheel is a nice touch.

Comfortable to use.

Excellent screen quality.

Great menus/features.

MP3 player works really well.

Cons:
Super easy to scratch the front screen. Constantly making sure not to put my keys in the same pocket as the phone.

Charging port should have been mini-usb. It would make life so much easier without having to buy cables and chargers again.

1.3 MP camera. Not a big deal, but 2.0 would have been nice. Not a deal killer though.

Very nice phone so far!

Switched from an enV (which was my favorite phone ever) just because I wanted something new and smaller. Losing the full text keyboard is the only drawback I see.

PROS
- Seems solid, good quality
- very good reception and call clarity
- Good camera even at 1.3 MP
- Music quality is very good through speaker and headphones
- Compact design
- Got it for a great price with my corporate discount
- Screen is very clear and great resolution (240 x 320
- I can use all of my charger and cable accessories from my enV

CONS
- Just wish it had a QWERTY keyboard so infrequent texting is easier
- Doesn't seem to be real easy to make a song a ringtone

I have owned this phone for about a week now, and i am very pleased with it. i upgraded from a vx8100, one of the original phones to come with a mp3 player.

Pros:
Great reception
:MP3 player works great, can set up playlists, play music in the backround while doing other things with your phone
Large, Crisp screen
Camera phone works great for a 1.3 mega pixel camera
Phone locks afer 30 seconds of non use. No more accidentally hitting buttons with the phone in your pocket.
Speaker phone very clear
Battery life is ok

Cons:
finger prints show on the phone (not really a big deal)
not easy to get album covers to show for mp3s. (small conplaint, not maojr factor)Overall i would say that this i a great phone, and this is coming from someone who said they would never by a bar style phone.

This is a review of the LG VX8550(Chocolate)
I have only had this phone for three days, in brief, It is reliable, sturdy, has a great screen and good features. I also have a Samsung SGH D807(Cingular) and it is a slider, this phone is in my opinion better than that phone, however i would say that i did not buy the original vx8500 because it was not better in appearance or features. The only feature that is better with the D807 is not a phone feature but a carrier feature. On Cingular phones with bluetooth you can send music via bluetooth, but on Verizon you cannot.(verizon is lame in this sense.

So here goes
Pros:
Small, Nice feel and look
Durable, Crisp Screen
Bluetooth, EVDO, and Headset Jack
Navigation wheel is a lot like the iPod click wheel and is easy to use and intuitive.
Buttons/input are well thought out and easy to use, love the button for locking/unlocking the phone and for music.
Crisp Sound, Can be very loud
Great Speakerphone, loud and the other person does not know you are on speaker.
Great Reception, better than the VX8600 which i traded in for this phone.(VZW 30 Day Test Drive) it was hard to believe
Camera Takes great pictures for a phone
Cons:
Not so impressive battery life
Some of the "touch sensitivity" is a bit not sensitive
Missing 3.5mm headphone jack(has 2.5mm) which is lame for a music phone
Microsd slot is hard to get at and add/remove card.
Camera does not have a flash(has nightmode though)

I hope this has helped, It is a solid phone for someone who likes easy access, a somewhat modern design and good features. It performs where it counts, gets great reception, call quality and ease of use

I've worked for a verizon retailer for about 2 years and all I have to say is wow. I had the 8500 and now this and it's a totally different phone. It's quite possibly the nicest phone we have out now. The reception A+
Music A
The fact you can text while listening to music A+
Scroll Wheel A++++++ (Great new innovation over the touch wheel on the original.)
All around this phone is 100 times better than the original. I suppose time will tell though. I'm a bit rough on phones and my original chocolate only lasted 6 months.

I really hope this one withstands the test of time. As of now this is just a simply sweet treat for the verizon wireless customers.

I have the new lg chocolate, I have had this phone since Christmas. I have found the chocolate to be very hard to operate after having it about a month. The touch buttons, on my phone work sometimes and sometimes doesn't, and it is on the highest sensitivity level. SO this phone isn't very reliable. A positive thing about this phone is the camera, it takes clear pictures. Also i like the navigation wheel because it is easier when trying to find contacts, except for alot of times my navigation wheel sticks or freezes, because ill be spinning the wheel and its not moving. Also, Ive found it to be very frustrating[my phone] because it has frozen on many occasions. sometimes it will go back to what it is doing in about 15-30 min. but sometimes it will freeze so long that i will have to take the battery out and put it back in again, i tried pushing all sorts of buttons like up down left right ok and even send and end, nothing works. i even tried turning it off. i have had alot of people say the same thing so i don't know if it is a manufacturing problem or my phone. But i do like the way the phone looks, it is very cute.

I've had this phone for about six months.

Last week, the phone started getting really laggy.
Then Verizon sent me a replacement, and the vibration motor was dead.
Finally, they sent me ANOTHER one, and the screens didn't work.

So they told me I had to get a U740. And there is NO WAY I'm ever getting one of those.

So I ended up having to pay 50 dollars to get a Chocolate!

stupid verizon.

I also learned to hate the keyboard.
I prefer T9.

My advice, if you have patience, and LIKE the keyboard, go for this phone.

I've been through several phones searching for a great music player and clear crisp voices on calls as well as great reception coverage. I finally have found it in the LG-8550. I tried the Motorola V3t, Nokia 5300 Music Express, Samsung Blast & Samsung Upstage before getting to the new Chocolate LG-8550. I was just about ready to give up my quest and decided to give LG a try. You'll love this phone!

PROS:

Music clarity is GREAT! It will take up to a 4G micro disk - this holds lots of stuff! You can create playlists too.

The screen is large and clear, photos are clear and crisp, I have no problem with the Verizon UI as some others have indicated - my eyesight isn't what it used to be but I don't need a magnifying glass yet! :)

Voice clarity and reception is great too. I live in a mountain-ous, suburban-rural area and lots of other carriers can't get the reception that Verizon and this phone seem to offer.

Videos are clear, crisp and downloads are super fast.

I really can't say enough great things about this phone! It's definitely a keeper!

CONS:

Not much to say here as I like everything about the phone. The only reason I gave this phone 4.5 stars and not 5.0 is because I'd like to see streaming stereo radio from XM or Sirius available with the V-Cast option from Verizon - but that's not the Chocolate's fault. I heard Verizon is working on this feature but can't confirm it yet... I hope they do - then it would truely be perfect!
