I purchased the Motorola Razr v3a from Alltel Wireless around a month ago. Personally, I see no reason that everyone is calling it the "loser phone" or a "piece of trash" etc. I knew what I was getting when I bought it. I knew it wasn't going to have EVDO or a transflash slot. I knew it was going to have a VGA camera rather than a 1.3 MP one. If people would do their research before making a purchase, they wouldn't be so disappointed.

Personally, for the price (48.88 on a one year contract, GREAT DEAL), I see nothing wrong with the phone. In fact, even though it lacks EVDO, the 1X speeds aren't THAT bad, not enough to gripe over. The Bluetooth OBEX is great, and the camera takes just about as good of pictures as the RAZR's before it.

STOP COMPLAINING PEOPLE!

Alright...

The RAZR V3A was not as bad as I thought it was going to be from what I'd heard.. It didn't have many features compared to other phones in it's pricerange, but it was sleek and durable.. I used this phone as a work phone and it was treated a little rough, and never even scratched...

I hated the screens... They were magnets to fingerprints and smudges, and the inside screen went blurry after about a year.

I recently got this phone, and I do agree with some of the comments other people have made. I hate the fact that I can not change the left soft key to something else (although the book says you can). The key pad light has a max of 2 secs. well, I tend to be a slow dialer. The camera takes great pics....outdoors. The ringers are real low. Used my old phone as my alarm clock (still do since I didn't hear the razr and got up late). Good thing I did not pay for mine..

Wow...

I honestly cannot believe the bad reviews for this phone! I just got it about 5 days ago & I absolutely love it.

PROs;

thin & stylish

large, clear screen

outer color screen

bluetooth(supports dial-up networking, MAJOR plus!)

very hackable

great audio, my mp3 ringtones sound fantastic

phenomenal battery life

exceptional picture quality for a VGA cam

tons of accessories available

decent amount of onboard memory(35.5 megs)

CONs;

crappy BREW technology, no JAVA

occasionally farts out when sending texts, have to restart to fix

no music player

no expandable memory

no EVDO, only 1xRTT

All in all, I am very happy with this phone. It's a great basic phone with some very nice features. I'm so happy with it that I may just keep it indefinitely & forego getting another Treo. For me that is really saying something! I use it in conjunction with my pocket pc & I accomplish everything I did with my old Treo. I highly recommend this phone :)
