Phone Scoop Review

The LG Lotus is one odd duck. Hidden in its goofy shape is an average phone that does many things, some of them well, others not so much. read review ›

Let me tell you a little something something about the lotus. This semi-automatic grenade actually has wireless transmission capabilities, including talking, texting, and accessing the internet. I would not be surprised to know that it explodes too. Violently. Anyvez, about zee fone. Its operating system is a technological marvel. Quick, easy to use, no prior knowledge of programming of any sort required to customize this black baby. Its QWERTY keyboard is easy to use, and accessing texts, as well as sending them, is a fast process without any kind of delay.
In short, texting is orgasmic. It displays texts like a regular IM conversation. The keyboard is very well built, as each key is raised for easy clicking. Good response time too. Not perfect, but much much much much much much much better than the instinct's.
The music player, which I use instead of an mp3 player/ipod, has it's troubles. I got a four gig micro SD card, as the phone is capable of using up to 12 gigs, and when opening up the media player, the delay can be quite...long.
I nought earphones for it for like 15 bucks. The sound is passable, but it's not that great. It sounds kind of weird, like it's omitting certain instruments. But, the speakers are very nice and loud, to my surprise.
It goes up to 12 gigs, but I have never seen a 12 gig sd card. Only 8 and 16...
The camera is to die for. Excellent zoom. good camcorder.
Few glitches. Sure, you can feel a lag every so often, but it's nothing bad. I mean, the amount this thing is processing, it's understandable.
Lg can really make some good phones. Good OS too. For a sprint phone, it's one of the best in it's price category.
The battery life is awesome. It lasts for almost two days with employment of the music player and calling and texting. And to charge it to full life takes very little time.
Samsung, however, is ew. I had the original phone that sprint gave me and I played around with the instinct. Dear god, they need to die.
Ok Phone

Phone is very nice and compact. I use exchange server email and there is no option to add your folders other than your inbox to view on the phone. I can't open anything in Excel or Word format either. It has some cool apps and features to that make it nice. I have to say that it is a good phone for the money but really needs a better email system with the ability to see Excel and Word documents. It does not have Adobe reader either..
love my little purple lotus

"It could have been a contender". I WANT to love this phone and sometimes I do, but its just frustrating.
Always depends on what you want to use a phone for, if just texting n phone calling it's a 5.0 However since it includes a (terrible) browser, Google apps, email and such it pretends to be a business phone. And it is SOO close but just is frustrating.
The Review-
1> FORM FACTOR 5.0 Perfect. You get the best of both worlds with the smallness of a clamshell n the keyboard of a smartphone. And the keyboard is PERFECT!
Screen very bright and big
Forget the conversation about this phone being "wide" who cares!
2> CALL QUALITY: 4.0
A little thin and hissy but very usable. Speaker phone tinny but loud
3> USABILITY; 4.0
has the new Sprint "one touch" interface and I like it a lot. Yes the phone lags a bit from app to app but no problem.
4> DOCUMENT SHARING: 1.0
Lotus is not sold as a smart or business phone but it has all the tools- TOO BAD THEY DONT WORK WELL!
Text files typed on your PC can only be viewed and not edited and the crappy browser doesnt kern the Google Docs page for any documents you have added online-Pathetic
5> INFRAWARE BROWSER-0.0
Just bad. Slow & worse The font on each page is so small you barely see it. Allows u to adjust the font of the BROWSER larger but not the font on individual pages!! Tried downloading Opera Mini twice- phone froze. Browser wont even display it OWN HOMEPAGE CORRCTLY! horrible web experience on the Lotus
6> POP EMAIL: 4.0 Works well, small font but legible. But I have it set to keep my last 100 messages and drops them every 24 hours- WTF? The client is proprietary and ugly to look at but it works.
7> MISC: 3.5 Bluetooth- fast, easy pairing Sold as a "music" phone- but its a joke. Camera not bad but typical cell fare
If the browser on this unit were better, then the document sharing would be too & Would make this a PERFECT unit. But the form factor is so good that it may trump the other things that dont work that well
