Opera Announces Sponsored Web Pass
Feb 21, 2014, 1:56 PM by Eric M. Zeman
Opera Software today announced what it calls Sponsored Web Pass. The system allows people to access the mobile web from their device after agreeing to view an advertisement. Opera says the usage allotments will be easy to understand, such as one hour of usage or one day of usage for viewing select ads. When the sponsored mobile web usage time expires, customers will be given the choice to watch another ad or make a payment to continue browsing or accessing the web. Opera's Sponsored Web Pass is a product for wireless network operators. It will be up to the carriers to decide if and how best to use it.
