Here's a look at HTC's latest version of the Hero, the Droid Eris for the Verizon network. The Eris is a powerful and tiny little device that features HTC's SenseUI and Android 1.5.

ANY navigation at all???

I know this little doo-hickey doesn't have google maps Navigation, but does it offer ANY type of navigation at all? I need that feature badly and would like to know before I spend my energy upgrading to this phone and then being disappointed.

I have this phone and it is 1.5. Are you sure yours comes with 1.6?
It is 1.5 per Verizon Wireless. MAJOR bummer!

Google turn-by-turn maps

You said that once the Eris gets Android 2.0, it will have the same software features as the Moto Droid. Does that include the free Google turn-by-turn map navigation? Probably wishful thinking...
It probably will IF it upgrades. However, I spoke with Verizon Customer Service today. The rep spoke with Tech Support to verify. They are not committing to any upgrades planned for the eris and probably won't because of the difference in the technolo...

No keyboard demo?

Thanks for the video demo. I'm bummed you didn't demo the on-screen qwerty keyboard though.
