Sprint Hits Cable Corps with Patent Lawsuit
Dec 20, 2011, 8:49 AM by Eric M. Zeman
Sprint has filed individual lawsuits against Cable One, Comcast, Cox Communications, and Time Warner claiming that the companies are violating its patents. There are 12 patents in total, covering how phone calls are transmitted over digital lines. One of the listed patents scored Sprint an $80 million licensing settlement from Vonage in 2007. According to the suit, Sprint believes the cable companies "have realized the great value in this technology and have misappropriated it without Sprint's permission." The lawsuits were filed in Kansas City.
