voice dialing and speech recognition
Hello :-)!
I'd like to create application for mobile phone which would be responsible for speech recognition. I thought about creating MIDlet for phone with Symbian and PocketSphinx.
However, is it possible that I can somehow access the ability of mobile phone to support "voice dialing". In fact speech recognition for mobile phones is already implemented. But I don't know whether it is possible to have access to this speech recognition by voice dialing.
If I need to use PocketSphinx, can anybody suggest me good (-> http://cmusphinx.sourceforge.net/sphinx4/doc/ Sphinx4-faq.html#j2me) and cheap mobile phone, which can enable me speech recognition?
In general I'd like to enable communication: human mobile phone server.

Can't sync with ActiveSync over Bluetooth
I have an IBM Thinkpad notebook with Bluetooth built in and using the Windows XP bluetooth software.
No problem pairing the SMT with the computer. I also enabled the phone's serial ports (COM6 & COM7) and I selected COM7 (tried with 6 as well) in ActiveSync->Connection Settings->Allow serial cable or infrared connection to this COM port.
Any time I try to setup ActiveSync Bluetooth connection on my phone I get a message:
"Please bond with other Bluetooth device which supports serial port ot ActiveSync profile as your ActiveSync partner"
What am I doing wrong?
I am, at present, suffering the same problem. From what I understand, it has everything to do with the fact that the phone does not apparently support Bluetooth Serial functionality. Modem, yes; serial port, no. And it is that serial port that ActiveS...

Blocking unwanted calls
I have a SMT5600 with AT&T and I would like to block a few numbers. When I go into the feature, the only option is to block all incoming calls. I would appreciate all the insight.

Windows Media Player - no sound
I uploaded a 192KBit MP3. The phone converted it to its internal format. I then loaded the song in WMP; the time counts down but I don't hear anything.
I plugged in some wired headphones, I hear other sounds (menu clicks and all that). Profile is on normal.
Ideas?
Oh and I rebooted it too.

SMT 5600 causing noise through computer speakers
I just purchased a SMT 5600 online and am getting some kind of intermittent clicking/buzzing interference through my computer's speakers. It is definitely from the phone since the further away I place the phone the softer the sounds are. The phone orientation has an effect as well. The speaker volume knob does NOT have an effect nor does it prevent the sounds. They also happen whether or not my phone is connected via USB data cable. The sounds occur every 10-15 minutes. Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause? Thanks for reading!
i regestered to this site just to answer your question, heheh, ok the sound your getting from your speakers is only your cellphone signal intereferring with your computer speakers, thats normal every cell phone does that, but some dont becuase the sig...

Sounds like what a Boost or Nextel phone will do. My blackberry 7520 does the same thing. I just got the 5600 off eBay 🙂 I just live with it or put the phone in the other room.

Compatbilitiy of hands free units
I want to find a handsfree unit for this phone so I did some research and I found the Jabra BT800 looked like a good unit from the reviews. But when I checked Jabra's website for compatibility it said it was not compatible with the Audiovox SMT5600. My first question is ... isn't ANY bluetooth device supposed to be compatible? If not, why? If the version of Bluetooth is a stumbling block here then in that case what version of Bluetooth is the 5600 using? I cannot find any documentation anywhere regarding what version this phone has.
I certainly don't want to blow $100 on a handsfree unit only to find that it is not compatible.

does anyone know where I can download AKU2 for the SMT5600?
Hi all,
does anyone know where I can download AKU2 for the SMT5600? Specifically, I want the email push capability, and especially the A2DP functionality, so I can get some Bluetooth headphones!
I've seen it released by other manufacturers, but Audiovox seems to have done nothing so far. Any recommendations?
Thanks,
Salil

Warranty on my 5600 gets me the new Cingular 2125...????!!!
A little under two months ago I needed to have my Audiovox 5600 replaced by Cingular under the 1 year warranty. They said they no longer carry the 5600 and would have to give me the 2125 (wasn't complaining after hearing that news!). Sadly I received the 5600 in the mail and figured they still had a few leftover. Does anyone have any clue how much longer they'll have the 5600 in stock??? I know I'd be cheating the system by faking a problem but the reception in my area is HORRIBLE and I would rather not pay for the 2125 which has better reception to my knowledge.
I figure the 5600 has been discontinued for about 4 months now...how much longer must I wait for this phone??? Any insider knowledge would be very helpful, thanks.
hp 5600 is gone.. 2125 will have exact same make up with the exception of the scroll wheel since technology was both designed by audiovox.. if the reception is bad get a new sim or updated software.. coverage is 90% software and only 10% phn; might ge...

Cingular Insurance
Anybody know what you get as a replacement for the 5600? it's not being sold anymore so if you've gone through this please tell me!
I just replaced my wifes last week. It was on back order but I am getting the same model (reconditioned). One interesting thing however is that cingular gave me a hard time with my insurance plan (which costs $4.99 a month). They said that the 5600...

Active Sync connection error
When I plug my Audiovox smt 5600 into my computer with its usb cable, it seems to make its connection and is recognized, but I get the following error message:
"ClxPPCLink.cab failed to install on your device because the installation file is not intended for this device."
What does this mean and how do I correct it? I've tried two (2) different phones and two (2) different computers, both with the latest version of Active Sync and the older version that came with the phones.
Thanks.

vibrate not working
sometimes my phone doesnt vibrate (when it should) before a call or when in silent mode. occasionally this can be fixed by rebooting it. anyone ever have this happen? know of any fixes? i'd look to replacing it, but the only comprable phones offered require getting quite expensive data plans.
thanks

Sennheiser MM50 headphones
I just received the Sennheiser MM50 ear bud head phones and love them! However, only the right channel works and Sennheiser customer service says they are not compatible. I have the head phones that came with the phone (that are just about worthless in my opinion) and would gladly snip the 2.5 mm plug off them and use it on the MM50's but I have no idea about the wiring configuration. Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks a lot!
Scott.

problem with bluetooth
hey guys, im having problem with my smt 5600, i dowloaded binary's smart explorer so i can now send files to friends. But when they try to send files to my phone (and only my phone) all their phones say that the service is not supported. They find my phone when they do a search but they cannot connect because of this. Through my phone i can find and connect to them and send them files and my phone will say that the 2 phones are connected, but when they try to send me something they cant because the service is not supported for soem reason. It's like theres some firewall or something. This is starting to get annoying because they send all kinds of songs to eachother but nothing to me. How can this be fixed?
