Confirmed: New plans will be required for Evo

Just had the Evo training, there will be new 3G/4G plans for Evo phones, both shared and individual. It is a required plan change even in non-4G markets. The specifics of these plans, including pricing, has not yet been released.

Also, the Mobile Hotspot feature will have a mothly charge to use. This will be an add-on cost on top of the new required 3G/4G plans. The cost has not yet been released.

I'm glad we finally know there will be new plans and addons required to use this phone. I wish they'd go on and tell us the cost. I'm worried that it will be bad, since they seem to be so hush-hush about it.

Opening an account after cancelling...

I currently am a long time (8 years) Verizon customer.

I have been having trouble in my area with poor service after 6 years and purchased two HTC Hero phones on April 17th for $200.00 a piece.

Since than, I have found out that, I can now get both phones for $200.00 and the HTC Evo is due on around the 2nd week of June.

I called Customer Service and told them, that I was not happy with the HTC Hero (Which is sort of true) and wanted to know if there was a way that I could just exchange my current phones for an EVO when it comes out in June.

They said that was not possible and I said that I would just cancel than.

So, here is the million dollar question..

If I cancel now..

Am I able to sign back up, once the HTC Evo comes...

Android 2.1 - Attn: Hero and Moment Users, have any of you seen any signs of this coming to your dev

I just want to poll the audience here to see if any of you HTC Hero or Samsung Moment users have seen an SMS coming to your phones yet in regards to the availability of the Android 2.1 OS Update for downloading and installing? At one point of the day today, both fairseth(??) as well as myself each got an error message stating that the update could not be completed and gave an error code as well as requesting the user to call Customer Service. That said, it looks like we're getting there. It's probably a matter of a couple of days or so to get the full fledged release.

Responses appreciated!

Firmware Update

I wanted to try and see if May 7th really was the date so I checked for firmware updates and instead of seeing no updates (like normal) it came up with a screen that says "The firmware update could not be completed. Please try again later. If the problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service Error Code:1012"...What is this????

Android 2.1 Release Date - May 7th, 2010 Per Sprint Customer Service/Technical Support - T/F?

Folks,

Situation: I called Sprint Customer Service yesterday with an inquiry to see if they have heard of the Release Date, official or not, for the Android 2.1 OS Update. I was transferred to Technical Support as the C.S.R. felt that they would have an appropriate answer to this. After being transferred, the reply I received was May 7th, 2010 and it will be an O.T.A. (Over The Airwaves) Update. It will appear on the Moment and the Hero as an S.M.S. Message, which the user will have to open and download the Update. When the Download (and install?) are complete, the device will require a reboot. I was also told that data, Phone Contacts, E-Mails and Calendar items will not be lost, even if you do not explicitly back them up prior to f...

More good news for sprint.

Wireless telecom provider Verizon (NYSE: VZ) has been trouncing AT&T (NYSE: T) for months in surveys of customer satisfaction and loyalty. But a recent survey by ChangeWave Research shows dropped calls are a growing problem for AT&T. Even Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) and T-Mobile — a subsidiary of Deutsche Telecom (NYSE: DT) — could see gains as customers think of leaving AT&T over the network troubles.
Specifically, a March survey of 4,040 smartphone customers was conducted by ChangeWave Research, InvestorPlace.com’s consumer polling and research division. In it, Verizon customers reported only 1.5% of their calls being dropped over the past three months, the lowest in the smartphone industry. This is also the lowest percentage...

New Sprint Venture - Assurance Wireless

I've been a Sprint customer for little more than a year and I decided to go with Sprint based on savings and their 4G quality network. So far, I have no compliants, but their is a new program that Sprint is offering via Virgin Mobile that has the potential to help out customers and consumers alike who need service and have trouble affording good cell service.

The “Assurance Wireless” program is being in offered in five states and exclusively to low income, qualifying families and its an amazing deal. Qualifers can get both a phone and 200 minutes, with no fees or contract, for free with the potential to expand their program at. 10 a minute. While the program is new, I can only hope it will expand to more states and people who ...
