Do AT&T phones need to be unlocked?
I'm strongly considering switching to Cricket after my Verizon contract is up in December, since I hear that people with AT&T have good service in my area. (That I moved to after entering a contract with Verizon) With the iPhone 6 coming out, I'm guessing there will be a glut of used iPhone 5/c/s to buy private party.
Does anyone know if phones (and iPhones specifically) that are still locked on AT&T will work with Cricket? Since I've never used a carrier other than Verizon, I'm also wondering, would AT&T unlock a phone I bought private party if I'd prefer to use it on Cricket?
witch phone is better, the Cricket Kyocera Hydro or the Cricket ZTE x500 ? Internal storage, features

Can I Get a Little Assistance? Please?
My name is Roger, and I live in Houston, TX. Maybe you've heard of it, maybe not; it's not that important. Unless you intend to visit this time of year. If so, DON'T DO IT!! It's too dang hot!
Anyway, I'm really hoping y'all experienced, seasoned cell phone users wouldn't mind spending a little time educating and assisting me as I actually enter the 21st century.
To give you a better idea, I had to exchange my Nokia 5185 for a newer phone about two years ago, as after nine years, it finally bit the dust. I "upgraded" to a Cricket Samsung U-340 Capture(I think).
Now that everyone in the world, including my friends, workmates, family, etc....

Band difference
I know that Cricket used CDMA but someone said be sure the phone is 850mhz and someone else 1900Mhz. I use the phone for making calls only and maybe 2 texts per year. VERY basic usage,
Is there a big difference between the 850mhz and 1900?
What should I look for before buying either phone? I know the old cricket phone I had was tri-band. I understand NOTHING about band strength so ANY info would be appreciated
I know some of the pitfalls with a fully flashed phone but I am tending to lean in that direction because of the phone. Motorola RAZR V9M as opposed to the RAZR V...

Virgin, Boost or Cricket? And the Phone?
So here's the deal. I've been with Cricket for 2 years, and notwithstanding some customer care issues(after reading some of y'all's posts, it looks like I'm not alone), I've been pretty satisfied.
I now feel that I'm emotionally and mentally prepared to "graduate" to an Android smartphone. This decision did not come without a lot of introspection and deep thought. My therapist was involved, and she agrees with my decision 🤨 .
Okay, enough screwing around. Anyway, I'd like to stay with one of the "no-contract" carriers, preferably Boost Mobile because o...

Thanks for the help. Just a couple more questions, I promise!
After pondering your response and doing a lot more homework on the matter, it looks like I'll probably end up staying with a more 'traditional' no-contract provider, such as Cricket, Boost, Virgin, etc... After looking at the 'big name' providers, it appears that since they can't depend on holding people 'hostage,' for two years, they try to compensate for it by inflating the price of the phone on the front side. The majority of the carriers want A LOT for their phones! MAN!
With that said, I have some (hopefully) final questions for you, as well as everyone out there.

Can I use and Unlocked I-Phone on Cricket?
1) is their web access any good? can I effectively browse the internet with their unlimited plan for $40 a month?
2) am I stuck with their phone offerings? can I get some kind of "unlocked" phone or droid?
3) if I am stuck with their phones does the Cal-Comp MSGM8 have a big enough screen to effectively browse the web?
Thanks!!!
