simple, slim flip phone w/2 displays?
Like many people, I've been frustrated with Verizon's handset selection, but not because I'm looking for complex, fancy features. I'd actually prefer NOT to have a camera or color display, since I'm more interested in good battery life, which tends to be sacrificed for these features.
Basically, I think the LG 3100 is a great phone, and I would get it if it weren't for two fatal flaws: no analog service and no outer display. The Moto v60s sounds OK too, but it's about the thickest flip phone on the market, which makes my left pocket really bummed out.

Go with the Samsung A310 or even the 530.
As phones get smaller, manufacturers are trying to "impress" the public with how many features and bells & whisteles can they fit into a smaller phone. Unfortunately, you are right about sacrificing the battery life. Even the vibration mode drains the battery 2-5% faster and the phones with GPS location always ON, drain another 5% faster.
New phones will be coming out in 2004 and they will be slimmer.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who would gladly pay the price of a camera phone for a slim, simple, two-display flip phone that worked well and didn't need to be charged often.
