Price plans are 'said' to not be changing anytime soon but that is just rumor at this point. You might want to keep checking www.pttforums.com for user info!

Well since my last post was removed for some unkown reason. I will Repost it.

Verizon Plans are CHEAPER than the Nextel plans. and here is a comparison of each company's plans:

(Based from my zip code 37115)

Nextel:

$59.99 400 Anytime Minutes, 0 N&W Minutes, 0 Mobile 2 Mobile Minutes, LD, & Unlimited Direct Connect.

$69.99 600 Anytime Minutes, 0 N&W Minutes, 0 Mobile 2 Mobile Minutes, LD, & Unlimited Direct Connect.

$89.99 800 Anytime Minutes, 0 N&W Minutes, 0 Mobile 2 Mobile Minutes, LD, & Unlimited Direct Connect.

$119.99 1100 Anytime Minutes, 0 N&W Minutes, 0 Mobile 2 Mobile Minutes, LD, & Unlimited Direct Connect.

Verizon Wireless

Wow. Plans are $20- cheaper for Verizon here.. odd.

$39.99 400 Anytime minutes, 1,000 M2M, Unlimited Nights & Weekends...

and so on....

PTT is coming along.. slowly.. and so are the better business rates... now its 6% discount on 5+ lines.

I saw the Samsung A690 last night.. it looks good... nice color, size, ect. It seems durable too.

Verizon has no PTT plans that are under $59.99.. You are talking about a normal plan.

Oh, gotcha.

Anyways, Verizon PTT plans are NOT at all cheaper than Nextel plans. They START at $39.99 ..... and they even have a Direct Connect only plan for $25-. If we want to lure over some of those Nextel users... Verizon is gonna have to come up with a better plan than what they are running now.

VZW is mainly marketing the PTT product in the business channel right now. Regular consumers obviously know the product is out there and they are interested, but yes, the prices are a little steep for an average single line consumer account. Once VZW gains a customer base w/ the business channel you'll start to see local PTT plans come out with lower prices. Right now VZW only offers one tier of PTT plans, and that is the National coverage with unlimited PTT. Nextel offers several tiers of PTT plans, some of which have limited coverage areas, or limited PTT minutes, and yes, they are cheaper. But VZW's plans are very comparable to Nextel's national unlimited plans. And VZW's plans offer more minutes.

What I listed was Nextel's Free Incoming plans.
Comapred to Verizon's PTT Plans.

What you are talking about are the THREE choices WITHOUT free incoming and WITHOUT Nationwide LD.

$39.99 500 Anytime Minutes, Unlimited Nights & Weekends, $0.20 Lond Distance, Unlimited Local Direct Connect.

$49.99 500 Anytime Minutes, Unlimited Nights & Weekends, $0.20 Lond Distance, Unlimited Nationwide Direct Connect.

$59.99 1000 Anytime Minutes, Unlimited Nights & Weekends, $0.20 Lond Distance, Unlimited Nationwide Direct Connect.

They may LOOK a little better in Minutes when it comes to the 1000 Anytime minutes for $59.99, but Remember.. LONG DISTANCE IS $0.20 a MINUTE!!

Verizon has FREE NATIONWIDE Long Distance on ALL plans! Plus Veri...

There is a slight delay, but keep in mind that Nextel uses an old Military RADIO band. This is why the quality sounds like a radio. Verizon Wireless is using an IP server to relay the PTT feature. The delay is minimal (measured in milli-seconds) and is being lowered in due time. The quality is second to none.

no it doesn't work very well at all. I believe that it will riseup as the dominate radio style phone when ptt becomes compatible with other networks and 3x is readily available.

Old Military Radio band?? Sorry but you are incorrect. The 800 MHz spectrum has never been used by the military and has always been in use use by Public Safety, CMRS (NEXTEL & Southern Link & others) and private companies for their own internal communications.

NEXTEL is using a modified Motorola 2 way radio SMR technology that is very close to the 2-way radio technology that Publi...
