Any idea when Verizon is going to start deploying LTE-A?
I'm hoping Q4 of this year, or Q1 of 2014.
Has Verizon mentioned at all their timeline to
start implementing 700/1700 LTE-A?
If LTE-A will start soon, is it available across the US?
Is it available across the U.S.?
The equipment T-Mobile is deploying LTE is newer equipment than when Verizon deployed LTE, and therefore a newer version of LTE, we'll know real-world speed tests in the next 3-5wks.
LTE-Advanced is mind bliwingly fast!!!
That essentially means that for all non-industrial uses, LTE = LTA-a and no one will know the difference.
Now, if for some reason Pixar wanted to use a cellular connection as their primary internet access and they needed to upload an entire 2-hour filmbase from one site to another in in 10 minutes or less, they would see a benefit from doing that using an LTE-a connection. That's a pretty narrow market, and there are existing systems that give 1 - 3...

I've got until 2020 to hold on to my 1x handsets.
There are no plans of upgrading to LTE-A in the immediate future.
He stated the next big focus for the network is going to be VoLTE.

I kinda thought that's what they bought the AWS 1700 spectrum for from the cable companies, to beef up the LTE.
This is true. VoLTE is going to eat up lots of spectrum. They'll need these airwaves for existing LTE protocols, and won't be putting LTE-A in any time soon.
