Verizon overcharging for data usage
Just curious if anyone else has had issues with Verizon's data charges. I had 2 devices on my plan - Galaxy S4 smartphones. I even took them to the Verizon store to make sure there were no apps loading/updating etc. in the background. I consistently had to buy extra gigabytes and ended up purchasing as much as 15g per month, which was puzzling since we did not use the phones much.
Recently I switched to AT&T and now have 7 devices on my plan, a Note 4, a Galaxy S5, 3 Samsung Tablets, another phone, and a mobile hotspot), and I am using less data than before.
We all use our tablets and phones daily. The wireless hotspot is also used daily at an office. It seems incredible that I am not using as much data as Verizon was charging me for ...

Verizon gets lots of calls from people questioning data usage, insisting that "since [they're] not doing anything different Verizon's billing must be wrong, or there must be a defect with the device, etc...blah, blah, blah..." Sometimes a weak rep caves in and gives the customer a new phone plus credit, totally believing the customer's claim but with no evidence to back it up. I guarantee that when the "defective" phone is received it is tested and found to have nothing wrong with it, and the rep that replaced it takes a hit to his performance statistics for replacing a phone unnecessarily. These smartphones are not phones at all, but little computers that also make phone calls. Everything on them is an 'app' even though many people say ...

Thanks. Ready to move to AT&T myself and just need the push. It's hard when you have four or more lines on a plan. We all work 8+ hours a day and then spend most of non work time on WiFi and it's complete crap when they tell me I'm suddenly using triple the data. I've been with Verizon since 1994 but it's time to go. I simply feel taken advantage of now and they're simply not the best provider any longer....

"they're simply not the best provider any longer...."
These things are all relative of course. If you are not a CDL driver who needs coverage in the entire lower forty-eight and you don't live in a rural area then they probably aren't.

I am glad to hear I am not the only one with this Phenomenon. I have used many carriers over the years. I kept hearing all of this drivel coming from Verizon that they had the better service and better this and better that. I decided in May to try to move to Verizon from another provider. In the past 4 years I have never gove over 3-4 gig of data. Keep in mind that once or twice a week i use my phone to stream SiriusXM for anywhere from 10-60 minutes.
Now I switch to Verizon. I never got a chance to stream SiriusXm. I was at home on my on wifi and i received a message that in 2 days I had used 1 gig of data. In 4 days I had used 2 gigs of data. Now all of this is while I was on my own WIFI at my home.
I immediately cancelled Verizon an...
