I am going to be switching to Verizon in a short while and am researching which phone will get the best reception in areas with bad reception. I currently have Sprint with a Sanyo SCP4900 and get great reception in bad areas. Any suggestions??

Thanks

I am recently married and going to move our phones to a family shared plan because she is a woman and talks all the time and I don't use anywhere near my minutes.

If its reception you're worried about, you'll want to use a tri-mode phone. These phones still have an analog chipset in them. They search for a digital signal first and upon not finding one, switch to analog. Sprint only uses 1900Mhz PCS so any phone Verizon has will give you better reception than what you're used to.

This is not always true. Analog voice quality and reception can be terrible in many areas, it might have the most powerful signal that can drive through a mountain (and your braaaain.. lol), so you'll get SOME SORT of signal, but it won't be as good of quality as a PCS 1900MHZ signal would give you. Tri-Band will give you more signal to chose from, but the reseption could( hint, could) be poorer. (IE, get 1 bar of signal instead of 4)

I'd reccomend giving them a try, though. 🙂
