8900 recall
I just spoke to a Verizon Wireless rep who told me I should return my 8900, they are discontinuing it. She said they are replacing it with the LG 6000, and that it was unlikely they'd update the 8900 and get it back on the shelves. According to her, there are problems with Get It Now connectivity, mobile web and picture messaging on some phones.
This sucks for Verzion. They're back to 1 camera phone, with none coming out soon (except maybe the v810, which probably won't be out till April).

That is incorrect. That rep is full of sh!t. They have TEMPORARILY pulled it from the shelf, becuase of some software issues. as soon as a new software version has been made, and the phones have been flashed, they will go back on store shelves.. keep checking up on when the update will be available.

I have the 8900, and received the upgrade via flash this afternoon.

Actually, both you and the rep are correct! This recall is being handled by regions. I cater to three different regions and I can tell you that two regions have stated that all 8900's are to be returned and replaced with 6000's and the other region has stated that customers will be able to recieve a flashed update to software glitches. This aside, VZW has also pulled the Kyocera 7135 smartphone. Again, two regions handling it one way while the other handles it differently.
