RAZR 2 comming to verizon?
CDMA Technology Questions
I know that VZW uses 800/1900 MHz for Analog (voice), Digital (voice), 1x (data), and EVDO (data). I'll ignore analog since that's going away soon anyway.
So with CDMA/Digital, when you place a call (voice), it is being sent wirelessly as digital data. While in a call, the "1X" icon is always present, but the "EV" icon always disappears.
So my questions are these:
1. Are there technically three networks that Verizon uses? One for voice (Digital), a second for low-speed data/SMS,MMS (1X), and a third for high-speed data/broadband internet (EVDO)?
2. Or since a digital voice call is actually a data call, is it always using the 1X network to transmit/receive t...

Want a Job? Here's a tip.
1.) Dont come in asking "are you hiring" while wearing shorts and a t-shirt, if you want a job dress as nice, or nice then the employees working there.
2.) Dont call up on the phone asking if were hiring, it shows that you are too lazy to even leave the house to job search.
3.) If you have passed the first two above mentioned steps, and I ask you for a resume dont have a blank look on your face like I asked you some quantum theory question and reply "uh, can I have one to fill out?"
You would be absolutly amazed that the amount of people who fail all of the above, i would say 9/10 can do these simple steps.
Honorable menti...

Best- and Worst-Selling VZW Phones?
1) What are the best-selling three or five VZW phones?
2) Which phones are sales duds, i.e. you can not move them at all, no matter what?
3) What phones are 'boomerangs'?(they go out, but they often get returned, either for defects or 'cuz the customer just doesn't end up liking 'em). 😳
This sort of thing is just interesting to me. I have some hunches as to what sells and doesn't sell.
Oh, and I'm interested over in sales over the LIFE OF THE PHONE. Of course I get that the New Chocolate is prolly selling great, considering it just came out and VZW is promoting the hell out of it, but what phones continue to sell well even once outside of the launch w...

My Upgrade Nightmare- Or, How the 20 Month Upgrade & NE2 Completely Stumps VZW Reps & CS (Part 1)...
Unfortunately, getting it was a WAR, thanks to some VZW reps and CS personnel who weren't up on policy. This is that story. 😢
Before I go on, I gotta say this was real surprisin' to me, as I haven't had any beefs with CS 'til now. They've almost always been very good when I call 'em. 😲
Anyhow, on to the saga...
As of at least Friday, I was eligible to get a phone upgrade, thanks to a nice policy change VZW made on June 1, that says all folks on 2-year contracts can now upgrade after 20 months, instead of 22. Made me happy to hear 'bout this, as my Nok...

Verizon asks Congress to just say no to "open access"
Verizon general counsel Steven Zipperstein told the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and Internet that he was a big fan of national regulation, so long as "national regulation" means that the states lose much of their power to regulate the wireless industry. According to Verizon, such state regulation is a byproduct of a time when consumers had few options. Zipperstein says now that 97 percent of Americans live in a county with three wireless service provider...

CDMA Cell Phone Transcievers
I was wondering, with the upcoming 700 MHz auction, cell phones will eventually have the ability to transmit on this additional frequency. So I'm assuming many phones will soon be 700/800/1900.
But my question is, what controls the frequencies that the phone can transmit on? Is it hardware that allows the phone to reach only certain frequencies? Or is the hardware a standard device and the software/firmware on the phone (set by the mfg) determine which frequencies the hardware radio can access? Eventually, if VZW somehow acquires 700 MHz spectrum (possibly from Alltel), will a software/firmware upgrade on current phones (like my enV) allow the phone to access the new 700 MHz band? Or would it be a restriction because ...
