Another example of how customer think we owe them the world

Customer calls in from one of our stores and say that he has had the insurance on his line for sometime but was never adv that it was dealt thru a 3rd party, Asurion. I told the customer that he would have gotten a brochure when activating the insurance to advice him of this and how make a claim...his response "Nobody reads those things" which of course is VZW's fault...He tells me that he NEEDS to leave that store with a phone, so I look at the accnt and is eligible for Early upgrade as of 8/2/04 so I adv this to him and tell him I'll make an exception to get him taken care of, he then TELLS me that he will not pay for Accessories, so I in turn tell him that if he was getting the phone for free he would still have to pay for accessories and...

Tri-mode? All Digital? Something fishy is going on here

I just purchased the Samsung SCH-a650 from a local Verizon store as it seemed to have the best price/features ratio of anything they had for sale... All the in-store placards and info about phone stated it was a tri-mode (2 types of CDMA plus analog AMPS service)... Being able to access the old analog networks is important to me as I often go camping in places like West Virginia or upsate New Hampshire where analog AMPS is the only option... I realize that the celluar companies are eventually planning to convert all the analog networks to digital... But for the next couple of years I'm sure analog AMPS will still be the only way to connect if you're in the boonies...

Anyway, I get home and the first thing I notice is that the outside of t...

The big to-do about the V710

Ok can someone explain to me the big hubbub about the v710?

Sure it has blue-tooth. What else makes it so sweet? Yeah I know I can read the tech specs here on the scoop but seriously folks.. WHY would you want the phone?

What would you do with it other than make phone calls, text messaging and get-it-now?

extended / extra batteries

Opinions please....

I have a LG VX4500 and need more than the approx 3 hrs of talk time. It is looking like I'll need to purchase another battery. My questions are:

1) Can you swap batteries without the phone losing stored date (ie phonebook)?

2) Are there alternatives to purchasing these batteries through VZ or LG that offer equal performance? Are there any aftermarket batteries that hit OEM specs?

After reading another thread, it seems like this forum is split on where to buy accessories. I'd appreciate any thoughts on batteries.

Why aren't there any cool VZW phones

I just don't understand why VZQ never picks up the coolest phones that are coming out. Is it because they are all GSM?

Does anyone know if VZW plans to upgrade to that standard?

It just seems that all the phones they carry are lame. Even if the features are the same, the form factor is disappointing.

For example, I don't know of any VZ phone that slides around to expose a full keyboard or a large screen.

Your thoughts?

IM on your phone

Has anyone used their Instant Messaging on their cell phone( like Yahoo IM or MSN IM,etc )??? I see the only 2 handsets that Verizon lists that it will work with is the LG 6000 and the LG 4600. I would like to hear some first hand knowledge to see if it works well, and if anyone knows if the Samsung a670 will be able to work with it in the future (Yahoo's IM page does not list it as an option yet).

Good CDMA phones

People fail to mention that there are good CDMA phones, they only come out from Sprint though. How come no one ever mentions sprint as a CDMA carrier?

My "2 cents worth"

I have been reading several of these forums for months now. And I have to stay, 90% of the time these forums are very helpful.
And I have had the top 4 carriers going as far back as 1996.
Like most people think carriers supply a service, if you like the service stay with it. If not, put your money in a "different(carrier).
Of the 4 carrires I have used, they are pretty much equal in the areas I frequented.
But now that most people already have a phone, it seems most if not all carriers pulling all the stops out, to get new customers. And by trying so hard they(the carriers) fudge the details somewhat.
By most standards a phone is used to place a call, that is it's main function. You can disuss or arg...

NEw Phone Question....again

I know, I know, I have posted on this issue before but … these new phone announced by Motorola are killing me! Yes the v710 looks kinda cool, or it did until they put up picks of the v3 or the v620. So here is my dilemma, and maybe someone from Verizon can help me out with this. .. I am very happy with my Verizon service and coverage. I have always been into the new “toys” but let it slide to this point because again, I’ve always been happy with Verizon but…. come on! So, does anyone out there in Verizon land know of any future releases that will rival these? My biggest fear is I will end up switching to Cingular just in time to see Verizon come out with amazing new phones.

what is this?? a research company praising verizon wireless??

Gartner Research named Verizon Wireless "the sole leader" among all major wireless carriers. According to the report, "Verizon Wireless remains the leader in wireless service with the best coverage and data technology in the business. Gartner praised Verizon Wireless for its support of BREW and its launch of (CDMA) 1xRTT and 1X EV-DO services nationwide and identified these steps as proof that Verizon Wireless is "driving the market forward and influencing its competitors in their network plans and spending. Verizon has completed 95 percent of its integration of billing and service systems, with low impact on clients. This has driven Verizon to the top of most customer service satisfaction surveys at a time when the industry has fallen to a ...
