Audiovox CDM-8900 ?
I am asking these questions because I am thinking about getting this phone; I live in California. I read that it also has the two-way speakerphone capability. When using the speakerphone, does it project loud and clear sounds?
So, if anyone knows what the deal is, please reply back to this message board. Thanks.
BTW, have a Happy New Year!!!

Samsung To Be Tested - Impressive.
A cellular phone is now available that lets you listen to music, record video and even control certain electronic products. Samsung's new camcorder phone, capable of storing up to two hours of video streams, is slated to be tested in the U.S.
A music player button is installed on the outside of the unit, allowing the user to listen to downloaded music files in stereo without having to first open the phone. Music-related functions include Stop, Skip, and Repeat, and Random Play.

Nokia and CDMA News...
This is for everyone needing to know about Nokia and what issues they face on the CDMA Network, where their vision of the future is headed, and helps explain why Verizon Wireless looks at Nokia to improve the phones on the CDMA side.
From CDG (CDMA Development Group)...
During the second half of 2003, Nokia's CDMA business reached a number of new milestones relating to both handsets as well as next-generation technology development. During this timeframe, Nokia has begun shipments of handsets to a group of the world's leading CDMA operators, helping to double Nokia's global CDMA market share during the year. In addition, lab tests and live demonstrations of cdma2000 1xEV-DV technology have helped move this new technology many st...

New Phones
My question is for any verizon or cell phone rep that has insight to my thoughts. My biggest concern w/ verizon is that they dont have the latest and greatest when it comes to their handsets. My question is why? Now i have to believe they have done research on what the consumers want and when they want it. I also have to believe they know there are many many people like me w/ this same dissatisfaction. So, i can only come up w/ two possible reasons verizon is behind the tech curve...
1. Do they have contracts w/ cell phone manufacturers (Audiovox, LG, etc.) that say they wont sell a similar product (camera phone for example) for a period of time...

V60 does not work next to other phones.
Should I ask Verizon to exchange the phone? I am willing to bear the cost of new accesories, but I am not buying a new phone or resigning my contract.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Verizons future?
-The main one being that, Verizon doesn't seem to ever have new phones. Its as if they don't want to support the newest technology, cant, or aim for a less-tech-crazed audience. I'm a power user and want the latest and greatest even if somewhat user unfriendly. Is this just not verizons strategy? Will they ever support more cutting edge hardware that other companies seem to excel in? (ex: TREO)
A related question is: do phones that use the same network technology as verizon (or other companies) WORK on their networks, even if they don't SUPPORT it?
-Why no J2ME @ Verizon? I'm going to learn it in school soon, want to use it, and it sounds more open sta...

In response to Digdah...
I have personally used and tested the Samsung SPH-i700. I found this phone to be the closest thing that a corporate user will need, if using Verizon Wireless as the carrier, but still has some "family-oriented" features.
I prefer PalmONE devices for stability, but this Samsung uses Windows powered PocketPC. Some corporate users like Windows powered phones because they can store and sync documents from work to home and vice-versa.

I do like this phone, but was overkill for what I needed. A lot of executives use it though.
Attn: Big Poppa - 8900 back on shelves when?
Big Poppa, any idea when they'll be putting the 8900 back on the shelves. My local stores (Boston, MA) said not till mid-January, and the guy at the 800 number said even though the phone appears on the website with a Santa Barbara zip code, the transaction "probably wouldn't go through". He also said they had instructions not to sell any more of these phones under any circumstances until they hear otherwise.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Audiovox CDM-8900
Some stores pulled the phones from their inventory and shelves, per Audiovox, UNTIL the phones were flashed with the software. If you purchased this phone, check with your local Verizon Wireless retail store (with a technician) and see if your phone needs updated.
I will post the new version number and what it fixes tomorrow.
Vrz website, what's up?
I'm an ATTWS customer, and I wanted to sign up with Verizon, but their phones look so cheap!
They spend billions on their network, but they don't seem to have anything left for their phones.
Don't they know Nokia out sells motorola by a least 2 to 1.
(And by the way I have gone to their stores and I have held their phones, durability doesn't seem to be a big concern of theirs.)
