Report: AT&T Mobility to surpass Verizon Wireless as top carrier in Q2 2011
IE Market Research Corp. released a report predicting AT&T Mobility (T) would surpass Verizon Wireless (VZ) in total subscribers during the second quarter of 2011 and that the AT&T Mobility will post the highest earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization results among domestic operators by 2014.
The Canadian-based research firm said it expects the U.S. wireless market to top 365 million connections by the end of 2014 with AT&T Mobility securing an industry leading 127 million mobile subscriber connections or 34.8% market share. Well, poppycock is one way to try and drive page views/give the illusion of relevance.
I mean, they're still painting Sprint as a dwindling company expected to lose another million customers over the next three years, too?
Gimme a break, think tank. Sprint and T-mobile are both very much in the game right now, because there are a lot of cheapskates in America who like their products and pricing, and are willing to sacrifice quality for the sake of cost.
I'm convinced we're going to see more and more organizations moving to capped data systems. It is better for the investors bottom line and it's the responsible thing to do when trying to keep the profitable 98% of your customers happy with their service. This will become common in Cable/ DSL systems as well, mark my words.
It's also the ONLY solution to net neutrality that the FCC can't jump in and screw up with "regulations"
read that and tell me why they need to again. Just because att has issues meeting demand its not about money!!! Verizon has stated they will not cap 3g for handset data. Not talking about hotspot or data card. 4g they are talking about it. But who knows. If sprint and clear still hold unlimited they will be forced to follow. And they will be able to unlike att which cant meet demand now. And another report shows verizon had more data consumed on their network then att so don't say att has way more demand than verizon.
I could have an iPhone on AT&T for $15/month. (I personally don't want an iPhone, so I won't buy one, but it's an option available to me and every other American.)
Find me anything even CLOSE to comparable on any other US carrier. Please!!! I'd like to see it!!!
One-size-fits-all data pricing can NOT compete with that. Things have to change. Almost anyone who isn't streaming media all day long (over 3G) can get by with 200 MB per month.
It is AT&T that has made the brilliant move here. No matter how all the self-centered tech bloggers spin it, this is not a marketplace blunder by any stre...

Part of what the new pricing does is drive unprofitable (unreasonably heavy) users away from AT&T into the loving arms of their competitors, thus making their COMPETITORS less cost effective. It's brilliant....
A great myth perpetuated in the cellular community is that ALL customers are "good" customers. Far from it. If you're an iPhone diehard using 8 gigs a month on $29.99 3G plan because you're too lazy to switch back and forth with WiFi when it's available AND you have the gall to drive up their operating costs by calling in twice a month during your spare time to b*tch about the crappy coverage, they don't want you.
They don't care if you're
