Since it has yet to push them to the top.

What did the iphone do "again"? Powered a record quarter for AT&T. If you lack reading comprehension skills it's not my fault.

actually from that report, it looks like they got a huge boost in prepaid subscribers.
~795k net postpaid additions, and ~1.5 million iphones (and all iphones are post paid)
The iphone was the driving force for sure, but All four major carriers are starting to show a growth in their prepaid division.

"The nation’s second largest wireless carrier activated a record 5.2 million iPhone units during Q3 2010 — a huge leap from its previous record of 3.2 million in a single quarter. 24% of those iPhone activations were new"
1,248,000 new customers purchasing iphones in a quarter may sound more impressive to me than it actually is I suppose...

no, It's impressive, but what it tells me is that ATT is screwed without iphone exclusivity.
More new customers came to their network for the iphone than the net customers they added. This means that if the phone was available on another carrier (even sprint or tmobile) they'd be screwed.
It also tells me that ATT (along with Tmobile, Sprint, Verizon, etc) are starting to rely even more on their prepaid business to bolster their numbers.

younger people are getting the prepaid devices and the ones who have bad credit or need them temp. they always had the prepaid services years ago and havent really relyed on them.
...
Not to mention ATT will get the iPhone5. While Verizon will get an CDMA iPhone.
