Is It Possible?

A few years ago I had at&t and because of a bad decision of letting a friend be on my bill, the bill was 1300.00 in a little over a month because she used data she didn't have and went over her 200 texts by astronomical amounts. Anyway, it went into collections. I just checked with at&t and they said I have a 0.00 deposit...is this possible or a fluke?

true that. and other incite for a diff company is nice too. but to be the person to actually answer there question instead of telling them to post somewheres else.
1.they may have not fully processed your info.
2.may have been payed off through collections? thats why you would owe the collections company instead of them. the way they work is they pay off your debt for a company and then you owe them and they can up charge you fees and take it outta your pay also.
3.id be beating my friends a$$ if they didn't give me my money to pay it off. you gotta realize it affects your credit and your wallet. don't let people play with your money ever. thats how you people get into debt and put on welfare.

He may have more to say.

We should wait until he says that he's done saying before saying he's done.

If an att or former subsidary of att account goes delinquent and to collections, and the account is archived, the credit check no longer bases a deposit on the old account and actually checks your credit. Obviously your personal credit is good.

Meaning if it has been over 2 years old, this is how you can set up service again with no deposit regardless of the past account.

I posted to your other post.

Replied to this post in the Verizon forum first (ironically) here is my reply:

I don't know the exact numbers because I don't work in analyst review.

The short answer is yes, what you're saying is possible.

If you have "established account history" with AT&T the credit check is internal and they don't run one through a credit agency.

The drop off for this type of internal reporting is much shorter than on a normal credit report. I think it's only 18 months.

So if you had an account sent to collections after you cancelled it after the time passes where internal reporting would be used they would just go by your actually credit. If it's good besides that item it may not return a deposit.
