What's going on?

I live in Dallas. The coverage with AT&T has always been great with a dropped call maybe every other month at most. Now it happens much more regularly. I had a late night conference call (I work for a European company) where the call dropped seven times, and I was not moving the entire time. Does anyone know if there are some major system changes? I have a Blackberry 9700. 👀

It can be a little tough to diagnose sometimes.

I do see dallas is scheduled for a round of capacity upgrades this month.

Could also be the phone, the battery or the sim card. A good tell is is others with AT&T are having similar issues.

The upgrade theory seems most plausible. My phone is only a couple of months old and the battery is fine. I even rebooted, but it dropped again.

The problem call was a 2am, so it is not inconceivable that they scheduled some work at that time to avoid as many disruptions as possible. OTOH, that doesn't explain the drop during the day. However, that was driving on the freeway, which naturally increases the chance of a hand-off problem.

My brother lives in Houston and is having troubles with dropped calls, and he can't receive text messages, so I am sure it is network-related.

I live in Northern Colorado used to have great wireless coverage from At&t now I do not have service at all most of the time at my house. I only live about a mile from a tower and still no service. Everyone I know that has AT&T in my neighborhood is experiencing the same problems. So AT&T is definitely has some issues. I am not sure it is because they have more smart phones on their network than any other carrier and the network can't handle the traffic or what. It is very frustrating.

If you live a mile from a tower, it's probably not your tower.
