I would have to say for such a large company how can they not make sure we can get service anywhere. I was at Museum of Sci n Indus. in Chicago-t-mobile worked, sprint, nextel worked not att. I have lived through all there changes and blending of services etc when they bought Cingular. When they going to stop the control issue with downloads, sideloads etc... just give us the best fastest most reliable service.
I will say they have been great to work with on customer service-I know dont say it yes att&t customer service is great-yes with me they have been. Cell plans should get cheaper overall I know wishful thinking. 😈 😈 😈

I know all carriers have dead zones. But in my experience ATT has the most in my routine. I complained, got a $200 credit, they said tower was going to be upgraded, still a dead zone.
I don't think ATT is going to upgrade anything until the TMO buyout goes through, because as you said and in my experience ATT's dead zones are covered by TMO.
Or the buyout doesn't get approved and they have to upgrade on their own.

I've spent significant time on every major carrier and AT&T has been by far the worst experience I've EVER had. I know all service is local, but no carrier has ever been close in terms of horrific service.
Just to give you comparison in my area... Sprint and Metro PCS give the best voice coverage followed by Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T...in that order.

I live in Las Vegas, and it seems like all carriers have good coverage here. I'm not speaking from personal experience, just observing people with phones from all carriers. Personally I'm with Vzn because ATT let all of 08 & 09 go by without upgrading to HSPA 7.2/14.4 or anything, I knew Vzn had a sooner upgrade path to LTE, and ATT continued, and continued to stand still. I like a wireless network to be speedy, not stand still. ATT has plenty, and plenty of billions in revenue to upgrade including backhaul to HSPA+ 21, LTE, their just lazy. And yet a carrier a third of their size has already upgraded to HSPA+ 42.

They're not lazy. They wait until others have played guinea pig for a given technology, and capitalize on their mistakes. I agree that they move slow as molasses, but I think it would be foolish to accuse AT&T of being "lazy"

Not sure what their motives are, but they seem to be holding their technology back. Not offering the full speeds on purpose, since there are workarounds to get faster speeds that people have exploited.
I'd be willing to guess that AT&T doesn't let the speed go as fast as it can so people don't go over their tiered data plans as fast.
That's my personal theory, I'm not sure if it's right or not. -shrugs-
