So who here has been throtled?
I was as of yesterday and am pretty pissed. I have an unlimited plan and have for somewhere around 5 years now. They all of a sudden bring in tiered plans and we get screwed?
If your going to throtle us, at least don't do it until we hit the max number of your tiered data plan which is 5GB. Not 3GB like they upgraded us to yesterday.
...
I was thinking this same thing the other day. I work for AT&T, so I brought this thought up to my manager. She made a very valid point that you and I didn't think of: The 5GB package includes tethering. The $30 Unlimited offered data only on the device.
With that said, it makes sense (in an odd way), that customers get slowed down at the 3GB.
Note: My theory; AT&T is only trying to slow down iPhone users since they're HUGE data hogs. They just haven't found a smart way of doing it just yet. Give them some time. They'll work out the kinks. ๐
...
Didn't know that about the 5GB plan. Thanks for the clear up. I do still think its wrong though. They should be willing to put up the money to place new towers to handle the influx of data users better. I get that they want to save money and all but come on. At lest in majo cities like LA, NY, SF, Boston

I'm not being throttled (yet) even though I was closed to 5GB on my last billing period which ended 4 days ago. However, I am noticing that if I watch videos on YouTube, I'm not able to watch them on HD unless I'm on WiFi. This wasn't the case last week. I used to be able to chose HD as an option, not anymore. It defaults to a really crappy resolution (as if the video was recorded on a 1.3MP camera). This is really pissing me off...
Anyone else noticed this? I use an iPhone 4s
...
my youtube still has option for hd. however i have android and not on a iphone. i don't think the carrier can switch your phone that way. i think it may be software or version of your youtube....may want to verify if youtube has been updated and verify you have latest version of youtube....just a thought....
...
Yea, I have an Iphone 4s as well and havent the change with the HD other than being throttled.

and what's ironic, is that it only happens when I download things LEGALLY ๐ฟ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ ๐ฟ

Yea wtf. Thats when it happened to me. The next day after I jaibroke

there are ways around this correct???
...
no, as in apn changes and device setting changes (some that may require root access) that will allow you un-throttled network data speeds on a grandfathered unlimited plan, even after you have been notified that you are being throttled.
...
Nope. I am on a grandfathered in Unlimited Data and I was throttled. Having unlimated data does not save you from having your speeds slowed.
...
duh you got throttled on the unlimited plan, the unlimited plan is the only plan being throttled. ๐คจ what i'm telling you is...
IF YOU ARE THROTTLED THERE ARE WAYS TO RESTORE YOUR SPEEDS AND REMAIN ON/USING THE UNLIMITED PLAN...
...
Ah, just misunderstood what yous aid. Don't need to bold it or biggatize everything. I'm not hard of sight yet.
May I ask how to do so in case this happens to me again?
...
However I'm not going to tell you find out smewhere else ๐
...
You realize that you just lost all credibility and put yourself in d!ck status for that right? This forum is to help other AT&T customers, not belittle them. ๐คจ And you sir, are an @ss! ๐ก

these setings and the steps can vary by device. If anyone wants to know how to do it, on what ever phone they may have, can google it.
...
Your just not a helpful person at all. I hope you don't actually work for ATT
...
Why, because I didn't give you a detailed walk through on how to get around their system?
...
Don't need a detailed walk through. Just would like to know where to look in the phone. Obviously under settings, but what would be the secondary folder? I'm sure I'd be able to figure out from there. I came to this specific area of the site to get some help, not for someone to act a bit like a douch and say find it yourself.

Some of us aren't as tech savy as you might be.

so what phone do you have? and don't say iphone ๐
...
Unfortunately I must say Iphone 4s. Only reson i upgraded from the 3g was cause I hadn't actually used my upgrade in 4 years, and I got a job so I though indulge a little ๐

but wow, what a possibly mute conversation. I have no clue if this fix can be implemented on an iphone. I see no reason it couldn't be on a jail-broken iphone but for sure not stock. I may take some time to look into it for you when I get home (and by that I mean utilize my mystical google powers) just to know for sure. However I do recommend all future upgrades be used on REAL phones.
...
I happen to be a fan of the iphone and think it is a real phone. You have your opinions though. Yes it is jailbroken. 5.0.1
...
you get a half of a "phone" point back becasue its is jail broken, as for the throttles I will have to look into that for you being an iphone and will get back to you.
...
Why thank you sir. Now I can learn something REAL about a cell phone when this all done.
...
you sir may be screwed, at fault too the half phone. I have found no throttle work arounds for the iPhone. I will try to pm you a link for the workaround on androids when get home tonight and maybe you can find similar settings in your device being that it is jailbroken. However if it could be done it should be posted on the web somewhere which it does not appear to be.
...
As for it being half a phone, no. It all just depends on your needs.
