The latest Consumer Reports cell-phone service ratings survey is in the January 2009 issue that arrived in my mailbox today. The ratings were based on 51,740 responses from ConsumerReports.org subscribers surveyed in September 2008.

The survey scored cellular carriers in twenty-three metropolitan areas. Verizon came in #1 in twenty of them and came in #2 to Alltel only in Charlotte, Cleveland and Tampa. Readers scored the carriers on a scale of 0 to 100. They also rated four categories of connectivity: No service, Circuits full, Dropped calls and Static.

AT&T's best showings were where they came in #2 in five of the twenty-three metropolitan areas.

How can I use the 3g iphone prepaid (GO PHONE PLAN, NOT PAYGO)

My best friend has a W760a and he wants to he able to get more battery life out of this phone. He could care less about 3G (non-data user) Is this possible?

Just got it, great phone but, small but... Is there a way to have reminders on my phone when i miss a call/msg etc... I know it has a flashing light which really never flashes anyways, lol... I looked around the phone and couldn't find it but i figured i'd ask since there are much brighter techy people out there... thanks.

Please, Please, stop sending customers into our store to honor online discounts. Authorized retailers cannot honor online discount prices, and quite frankly, i can't stand customers who have diarehea of the mouth that come in with all their info saying they spoke to a CS rep on the phone and the rep said to go to the local ATT store to honor the discount. 😡

I've noticed AT&T flipped the 3G switch in Lincoln which is fantastic! The dorks at the Apple store said 3G would be switched on by the end of the year, but anyone have any insight as to the date? I understand it will launch when it's ready, but just curious. Thanks!

I don't work for AT&T and haven't been paying much attention to the release of the Bold. An acquaintance of mine has AT&T service and was interested in getting a Blackberry on their service. I know that the Bold has 3G and video capabilities, but these things aren't really a big deal considering the Blackberry would be used primarily for email as opposed to internet.

In any case, I'm not very educated on the Bold. Can someone give me a breakdown of the pros/cons of getting a Bold over the Curve or Pearl? The price is pretty steep, and I'm not sure the price difference is worth it in this instance. I might be missing something though. Any opinions or advice is appreciated.

After trying to call the wife a couple times yesterday while shopping when we finally met up she told me her phone had no signal and she had to reboot it, it then worked fine again.
She said Jenny (our daughter) was experiencing the same problem from time to time.
Since I was near the AT&T store I popped in to inquire about the problem, I thought maybe there was a sim card problem.
I explained what was going on to the guy at the tech desk (a pretty nice fellow who actually knows his job!) and he told me that there have been some lost signal issues happening here and will continue for about another 2 weeks as they are working on the towers here in Flagstaff, replacing the radio heads with 3G equipment. So I finnaly got my hands on a N95, and really didnt see what the rave is about, it says it has a 5MP camera but my FUZE has a 3.2, and it takes a better picture, this dosent surprise cause I have seen differences like this before with cameras with the same MP, i Belive the way the lens is designed, and set in the phone makes a big difference. They are about the same weight, the N95 is a little lighter, not by much, I recorded my friends throwing a football, baseball around on both phones, the N95 was jumpy, the Fuze was almost perfect I mean after all it is a cell phone. I realize it's an extremely new phone but I haven't seen any opinions, reviews, forum information on this phone... Anyone have any hands on experience with this phone?

When I try to make a call this is the message I get.

"We are unable to connect calls from this line at this time. Please dial 1-800-331-0500 from a land line phone for customer service."

I can send receive text message and Blackberry Messenger, however no calls. Not even to 611. I called CC and they say there is nothing on my account that would indicate an issue. IMEI and Sim are correct. No tower issues in my area either.

Has anyone ever heard this message and know what it pertains to???
