Any updates on Sprint DC?
It's been a couple of months since anyone posted anything regarding the new Sprint Direct Connect ("SDC").
Does anyone out there use it, or even know of anyone using it?
Anyone see any advertising for it yet?
Any iDEN users out there who have been contacted by Sprint yet, like maybe Sprint trying to get you to switch from Nextel to SDC?

Hmmm...two weeks passed with absolutely no responses on the subject of how Sprint Direct Connect is doing. There was this one not-too-favorable comment on SDC elsewhere on PhoneScoop by someone posting a review of their Motorola Admiral phone:
"-Occasionally PTT service does not work after loss of cell service when going into a parking garage or similar. Sometimes takes up to 15min for PTT service to return.

If I were Sprint, I would have learned from the failure (which I predicted) of the original QChat phones and NEVER brought them back. Instead, I would have worked out the minor bugs in Powersource. In spite of a few shortcomings, this was the best idea for CDMA voice transitioning. A tri-band unit with EVDO & iDEN PTT could have really sold. Alas, it was never meant to be! ☹️

And I'm betting that if they had really wanted to, Sprint could have included iDEN capability in their new, whizbang "Network Vision" system. After all, if the new network gear is so smart & so flexible that it can be reconfigured between CDMA & LTE on the fly with just software updates, it seems like they should have been able to keep a small slice of the resources for true iDEN-based, radio-dispatched PTT.
Sure, all of the data & voice can and should be handled by the CDMA and upcoming LTE VOIP-based channels, but I do wonder if they couldn't have dedicated a comparatively small amount of bandwidth & computer in each tower to be hooked up like iDEN is (i.e. bypassing the PSTN) to provide genuine radio dispatch for the PTT calls. I know ...
