Turn off blackberry phone option

Ok, here is the question and it is based around the blackberry pearl and the blackberry 8820 phone.

Can you turn off the phone function of the blackberry and keep the data/email side of it on? I ask this as I do alot of traveling on planes and would like the ability to be able to do e-mail and stuff but not have the phone transmitter on -or- can I turn off all transmission functions of the blackberry so that I can at least read and respond to e-mail messages and when I land and can turn it back on, do so and then have it resync and send all the messages I just replied to?

THanks.

Goooooodbye

chummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

mmmmmmmmps.

No, really, this is great news. I can't stand Alltel's customer care, phone selection, "cell top" and especially my Alltel rep, who's a crazy 40 year old prostitute that can't pick up her freakin phone, or learn how to return a call.

Man, this feels good.

And for those who might lose their jobs: T-Mobile is hiring like mad right now. I think they're pretty cool to work for. I might switch over to work for them sometime soon. (3 months?)

Adios!

Welcome to the new Verizon Wireless Forum

I have to say, I am excited to have Alltel on board with VZW. The networks are 100% compatible. The only thing that will need to be converted is the billing system. Customers will probably get to keep their existing equipment as well. I've activated Alltel equipment on VZW before so I know it works.

I have always respected Alltel as competition (I'm in the Omaha/Lincoln area) and am extremely excited about the Network and licensing expansions. I have a lot of family that lives in rural Nebraska and they all have Alltel because VZW didn't service their area. It will be nice to have everyone "IN".

I hope no hardworking Alltel employees lose their jobs over the buyout (except maybe the Wizard, he is extremely annoying). I underst...

Insurance Replacement

This is for all the reps out there that might know. Is it possible to file an insurance claim and not necessarily get the same phone that you already have? I have the Samsung u520, which I got as an insurance replacement for another phone before. I don't like it and I want to get something different. I used to have that Kyocera slider phone, and I want another slider, but when I got the replacement last time, they gave me this samsung phone. I know, you're all gonna say I got a better deal with this phone than the one I used to have, but I just don't like it. I'm just not crazy about flip phones, never have been. Is there anything I can do? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Black Berry Pearl Memory Issue Solution

Here are some things you can do to help maximize the memory on the Pearl. So instead of wasting your time calling the BBB try these steps. I had a customer do the same and it has yet to freeze or delete information since. Good Luck! 😁

If you are
experiencing deleted call logs, SMS messages, and BlackBerry messages randomly. This is a limitation of the device memory. A memory card is recommended to save all pictures, videos and other media instead of on the device.

Solution

Steps to clean up memory on the Pearl

1. In Options turn auto on/off enable both weekend and weekdays....turnoff-2:00am and turn on at 2:01am.

Determine the Amount of Free Memory on the BlackBerry
* On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Status. That ...

Considering Alltel

I recently switched from Nextel to Sprint. Sprint has been a huge disappointment. In my home I only get 1 bar or signal. I have to place my phone in roam only to make a clear call, which puts my phone on an Alltel tower with full signal. Same scenario at work. If i order a phone from Alltel over the phone will they charge it to my first bill or no? Also can i try it for a few days before porting over my number? Any help would be appreciated!

ALLTEL Mississippi

I have been with several phone companies over the years, and have some advise for any customer in the state.

For those customers that live in major cities like the Jackson metro area. You best bets for good service.

Alltel would be my first choice. the coverage is great, 3G speeds are awesome. phones are cool even given the lock down on bt ringtones.

Verizon is a good choice, though the service only works well in the cities. awesome phones though. 3G is awesome here too.

Sprint works well here too. though don't lokk for customer service around Jackson, you will be ready to punch the sales rep.

Cellular South works good if you can deal with phones that suck and the terms of the plans. read your plan details before you decide...

Any new smartphones soon?

I'm new to this board, so I apologize if this is in the wrong forum. However, i am in the market for getting my first smart phone in the next month or two (before July). I was wondering if anyone knew if alltel will be releasing any new touchscreen phones w/ key pad (similar to the HTC PPC6800) - im not a big fan of the touch. or if i should just go after the Curve? I prefer the touch screen and WM b/c it is compatible with more add-on programs that I need at work, however, i could use the blackberry albeit without all the programs i would like to have. Thanks for your help!

Orlando Market

Anyone heard anything about Alltel moving into the Orlando market any time soon? Also is there anyone here who is at liberty to give me a quick runthrough of Alltel's commission structure and average salary?

help!! any alltel reps out there??

Long story short.. My great nephew - 6th grade - saved and saved to buy a krzr. He finally gets enough money & we get a refurb one for him. We go to alltel to have it activated and get this story about a strong possibility that it won't seek the alltel towers and we will have roaming charges that alltel won't credit back because it isn't an alltel purchased phone eventhough we are on a nationwide program.

Is this true? How can it be?

Thanks
Mary

Did you know?

That as of Feburary 2008 all upcoming phones will have the bluetooth ringtone thing disabled so you will not be able to use your own ringtones! I think this ridiculous, as AT&T and T-Mobile let you do it on some of their phones. What do you think?

Transfering phone numbers, Rep help needed!

Can I get an Alltel Rep to give me the correct answer? I am currently with Alltel, when I signed up, I went with the internet package along with a lot of other extra's with a Pearl phone. I am paying a lot of money a month and I would like to now reduce my costs by going to a lesser plan. I was told that I cannot reduce my current plan unless I pay the early termination fee which I can accept. The part I don't understand is that they are telling me that I can't keep my existing phone number and that I will have to get a new number which I don't want to do. Is this true? If so then I will be going with T-Mobile so that I can keep my current phone number. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Advice need for smart phone and new carrier

I'm looking for some advice..... I live in Wisconsin and have been with Cellcom for years, their coverage has been great and the customer service has been pretty good. I would like to try a smart phone mostly for e-mail and scheduling, but I also want to tether it to my laptop when I travel and have internet capabilities, which Cellcom does not offer.

I have concerns about Alltel coverage in Wisconsin, so if anyone has firsthand knowledge I would like to hear from you.

I really don't want to be locked into a 2 year contract so I am considering buying a BB 8703e off eBay to use. I don't need a camera phone, but I do need something very durable and I have heard the 8703e is good for that. Is there any reason why I should not go with tha...
