Cingular Itunes vs. Unlocked version
aside from what comes with the phone...What are the pro's/Cons between the two...if you are going to be using it on cingular anyway?
My main concern is...I know with the unlocked version you can easily upload Mp3's from your computer and use them as a ringtone. Can you do this with the I-Tunes version?
...
Not sure if there is a work around, but songs placed on the Cingular phone via iTunes can not be used as a ringtone.
I think that mp3 files placed on the phone using Phonetools can be used as a ringtone??? Maybe someone here will know.

Songs placed via iTunes CANNOT be used as a ringtone, songs placed via mobile phone tools CAN be used as a ringtone. This is NOT a big deal becuase typically you want to truncate songs into ringtones so that they start where you want them to start, like the chorus or another good part of the song. If you used them from iTunes you would only hear the first ten seconds of a song or however long it takes you to answer your phone. And, of your favorite songs, are the first 10-20 seconds the best part? So there are many freeware programs to truncate and edit mp3's and midi files. I use soundforge, but a prog like anvil studio is free.

Sorry to butt in, but is this possible to do on my SE 710A? I have a ring tone that I want to start about 20 sec. into it, not at the beginning. Please help.
-Thanks
...
you can create 30 second clips of songs using iTunes...then just convert to mp3 and you have a ringtone
...
since the microsd is partitioned into 3 compartments (mobile, itunes, and usb storage) just store some mp3's to the usb storage part and use those for ringtones.
