Sending PIX and SONGS to my phone via email...
Now I'm trying to do the same thing with songs, but most of the songs I have are:
1) too large - the site will only upload to a certain size, and
2) MP3 format - the site will only upload audio files that are .wav or .midi or .amp
So, can someone tell me how to convert mp3 files to wav or midi files?
And, how do I compress the files?
Thank so much!
I'm on the Verizon network and
I have checked out Howards Forum...I was able to change the file type to a midi file, but the Verizon site still says it cannot upload it because it's an invalid file type.
Why why why???
I also figured out with Nero how to crop the song.
BUT THE VERIZON WEBSITE STILL SAYS IT'S AN INVALID FILE TYPE?!?!?!?!??!?!?!
HELP HELP HELP!!!!
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
Now as for using Pix and Flix, be careful my friend. Yes, it is free to send pictures and sounds from your computer to your phone. BUT, it costs 25 cents for your phone to RECEIVE the file! That's why Verizon disabled the multimedia function in Mobile Phone Tools and OBEX for bluetooth file transfer. It forces us end users to pay a quarter each time.
Good luck.
wav, mid, midi
none of them work.
As for the $.25, I was told if I'm using Verizon dsl with a Verizon email address, there should be no charge to and from my phone...we'll see...I'll check my bill
One thing you could do that just popped in my head is post your question over at HoFo since your search queries didn't help.
I let the rep know that someone in the Verizon store told me otherwise.
The phone rep said it used to be that way (ha), but now there would be no charge only if you had the complete IN package - not exactly sure what that is and I don't much care.
So I told him I should be credited for the ones I sent since I was given false information.
He said ok - so we'll see.
I'm not much into the whole software thing and hacking, but at these prices Verizon really leaves you no other option.

I dont know if you all know about this 30 sec mp3 free music clip trick or not, but here it is. I can not take credit for this, I actually found it on another forum and think its worth spreading.
For free 30 sec mp3 music:
-Go to dogpile.com, Walmart.com, other free music, search under Music, do any kind of specific search like sound effects or broad search like rock.
-Click on any album and scroll down, walmart allows you to listen to 30 seconds of almost every song on every album.
-To listen first just left click on the side on the song where it says "mp3 audio" winamp will pop up and allow you to hear it.
-If you like it than right click on the "mp3 audio"...and sav...

I tried going to walmart.com and amazon.com, both of which allow you to sample 30 seconds of songs on an CD.
My Windows Media Player opened up, but there is no way to save it.
I did something (not even sure what) and saved it to my playlist, but it was a wpl file and when I changed the extension to mid or wav, it would no longer play.
Those sites don't have anything that says play "mp3 audio"...basically it's just an icon next to the song that allows you to listen to it.
I could be missing something...that's totally possible...
Let me know if I'm missing something.
Thanks so much.
No luck...I found a clip of the song, opened it, saved it as a mid file.
But when I tried to upload it to Pix place, it says it' an ivalid file type even though Pix place states:
_______________________________________
You may upload media files from your PC, then use those media items in messages that you compose and send.
PIX Place supports media with the following file extensions:
Images: .JPG, .GIF, .WBMP, .BMP, .PNG
Audio: .AMR, .QCP, .WAV, .MIDI
Video: .3GP, .3G2 _________________________________________
And if I email it to my phone not using Pix place, my phone gets the email but I can't open it...the phone won't receive the file.
It's the same error I got originally 3 days ago when I started this process.
So...
