ethernet connection

Is it possible to run an ethernet connection through the 4 pin usb port on the Cingular 8125? Or has anyone tried this? Want to run ethernet connection and log into my network wired not wireless.

Tech support from Cingular and HTC don't have any idea. All they said is buy the phone and try it. I don't feel like dropping $350.00 plus other fee's just to try something.

Phone answers/disconnects while retrieving from case

When I place my 8100 in it's case on my belt I lock it so that only the on button can turn it back on or unlock it. This works quite well, except ... When I receive an incoming call, and fumble to get it out of the case, invariably it answers and often ends the call as I inadvertently hit buttons (I assume)

I can't seem to find a setting forcing it to only answer a call when the talk button is pushed (or some other option like this).

Anyone have this happen and is there a solution ?

thanks

Phone book, SPB, ROM update, games

I just purchased the Pocket PC 8125 phone for cingular and I love it and I pretty much have it figured out but I just like everyone else still have questions.

1. Is there a way to tell how many contacts I have without syncing to outlook?

2. Also is there a way to copy all phone book entries to my sim without going one by one.

3. I'm in the process of trying to find SPB Pocket plus to put on my phone, I read that it makes it a lot easier to use. Is that a smart move to get this program?

4. I've read about a ROM update and I was wondering is there anyway to get that update without sending in my phone to cingular.

5. Are there a special types of games that will work on this phone, I'm trying to download some now.

Sorry about t...

Freezing with incoming calls while phone lock is on

I've been having an ongoing problem with my MDA freezing with about half of the calls that I recieve while my phone is locked. Sometimes, it will show that I have a missed call and the keypad will be in the background, and the whole screen becomes garbled. This happens in different situations, and after it gets into this state it won't respond to any buttons so I have to soft reset it. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they had fixed it? I'd rather not turn off the phone lock feature.

Any online manuals for this?

I got the MDA through T-Mo and the manual is very lacking. I have been told you can use your voice to place calls, etc. but the manual does not cover any of this. I would also like to find an online manual for Windows Mobile 5 so I can learn more of it's features. Any links would be helpful.

Thanks,

Zych

Text Messaging

I had nextel as my provider. In receiving tex's there was a delay in receiving them, usually a 30min to a 2hr delay. Does Cingular and this phone experience the same problem?

Also which provider is best, comparing signal strength and features?

Cingular v. T-Mobil

Question about the Wi-Fi feature

I am thinking about getting the MDA and I had a couple of questions about the wi-fi feature. They are pretty in depth so bare with me.

1st question:
Ok, lets say I didnt have a wireless card on my laptop and I wanted to connect to wi-fi at a free location like Panera Bread. If I had the MDA with just a voice plan, no T-Zones, no T-Mobile web, just the phone, Could I use the MDA's Wi-Fi feature just like a wireless card without incurring any data or minute charges?

2nd question:
If I had the same MDA with just a voice plan, could I use the Wi-Fi feature to browse the internet on the MDA itself at a location like Panera Bread with Wi-Fi without incurring any data or minute charges??

Any help would be great. And if you feel the ur...

New Version this month?

Hey don't know if this is posted here or not, but my RAE at Cingular told me of a newer version (8525) coming out near the end of this month. He told me it's not a 3g phone but the one that come out in November is though...does anyone know more about this?

Clock went from digital to analog??? Help please

Ok, a silly question but a very real/concerning one. The product manual is useless. And for some reason the clock (top right corner) on my today screen switched from a digital clock (which I could read, and I someoften have no watch on) to an small analog clock which I can not read.

Anyone have any ideas/advise for how to change it back? I've been searching the settings and can't find a place to fix this (or how I/it changed in the first place).

Thanks in advance

Turning off the blinking light

How do you turn off the light that blinks on the earpiece, it is very annoying when in the car at night or in a dark room.

spare batteries - where to buy?

I think they are normally sold for $30 plus S&H. They are expensive on eBay, and I don't know if the quality is good.

Where do you guys buy your spares from and how much can I expect to pay?

Call Me Crazy...

Something seemingly as simple as putting a ringtone on this thing is driving me nuts!!!

How do you do it???????

I have a miniSD in the thing, with a handful of Mp3s on it...

But my only choices for ringers are the few that came on it.

voice command type of question

does this phone have an announce option... such as, "announce + ring" so that when someone calls you, it will say "call from Tom" or "call from 555-1212" then ring?

This would be helpful for having the phone holstered and using bluetooth, so you still know whos calling without unholstering.

can it do it???
