This is a great phone, long battery life, easy to use text messaging, good quality build, clear phone reception, easy to navigate through menu. I was about to give up on Motorola, they haven't had a good phone since the E815. This phone is just as good if not better then the E815. Being I'm an older person, I used to hate to text message anyone cause it took me forever to send a message. This phone has the sliding keyboard that makes texting so easy and fast. I'm 49 years old and i used to hate to respond to a text message... most of the time i wouldn't answer. The Rival fixed that problem for me, I can now text message all i want, In fact ... it's kinda fun now. Call quality is great, crystal clear conversations, with no breaking up or static. The battery lasts 3 to 5 days, thats alot better then the last couple of phones i have had that would barely last 2 days. Motorola is finally back on track making a good quality and easy to use phone. I do recommend this phone. You won't be disappointed.

Like It So Far

I replaced a Moto KRAZR with the Rival. The Rival is roughly the same size as a closed KRAZR, it is slightly heavier and a little thicker. The call quality and signal strength seem to be on par with the RAZR that I used before replacing it with the KRAZR which is my #1 priority when selecting a phone. I was also considering the LG Touch but for what I use a phone for (primarily for making calls and occasionally texting) the Touch was simply too large. I am spoiled by using the compact RAZR and KRAZR a small, easily pocketable phone is also a priority for me.

I don't use a phone for music & taking pictures is not one of my primary considerations.

I am in MD on the Verizon network and am pleased with the call quality and signal strength. The battery life seems very good. I charged the battery before turning the Rival on and after 2 days of playing around with the phone and camera, making a few calls and texts I am at 3 bars which I feel is good on the initial charge.

There is nothing especially innovative about the Rival, and it does appear to be targeted toward teens. I chose the black/purple color after seeing both color choices in person. It would be nice if Moto would come out with a more "sophisticated" color combo. for adults who don't want to pay those high data plan charges for a smart phone but want a QWERTY keyboard.

This phone does not seem to be as solidly constructed as my old KRAZR, the battery cover is all plastic.

I was not impressed with the limited standard ringtone choices, and the earpiece volume could be louder, although it is adequate except in noisy environments.

PROS:
Small Size - Easily Pocketable
Good call quality and signal strength
Good Battery Life
Compact, well designed QWERTY keyboard

CONS:
Ear piece volume could be louder, needs more volume in noisy environments
Camera is not up to par with the competition (if that is a priority for you)
Limited standard ringtone choices

Pros:

- Small
- Great for texting
-Qwerty keyboard thats small enough to be cute but big enough for easy texting

-Partial touch screen
-Awesome camera
-Vcast Music
-MicroSD card can be used with it.
-Small and stylish look to it
-Can be used with Prepaid.
-Affordable
-Loud speakers, great for Metal or Rock music

Cons:

-Sometimes lags when sliding keyboard out (very little though!)
-Screen attracts fingerprints easily (get a screen cover and its all good)

I just got the Motorola Rival on Monday, and I LOVE it!

My old Samsung Muse got totalled, and I don't think I'll be getting another flip phone again.

The Motorola Rival's qwerty keyboard and touch screen spoiled me already!

Great phone, would def recommend this to people that text alot or just want a really good phone ^_^
