I've had it for about two weeks and am impressed. It has that same rugged feel as my old L7c and my girlfriend's L7. The software on it is very similar to the RIZR Z3 and KRZR K1 and can use the same skins and Seem edits as those models.

I have a very retarded habit of throwing my phones when I'm pissed, and the L7c was the only phone to still work after throwing it off a 2nd story balcony onto concrete in the rain. After the recent slaughters of my W490 and Razr2 V8 - I thought it best to get something rugged - that's when I decided to buy an L9.

Pros:
Great battery life (Easily 4-5 hours of talk time and battery is still being broken in)

2GB Micro SD supported

Multimedia support (can play MP4 videos full screen)

Very rugged and simple design for a Motorola phone (flip phones are weak by design - if you're a mental case like me, this phone will last you longer - rubber backing is a nice touch)

Very moddable (supports funlights and other mods via Seem edits)

Great reception (USA - NE Texas - T-Mobile)

Can use some of the same accessories/parts as the L7 (carrying mine in an L7 case right now)

Takes surprisingly nice pictures for a 2 MP Motorola phone

Cons:
Small/awkward keypad (maybe it's my large male fingers, but texting is slow for me on this keypad - more so than the L7 for some odd reason).

Menus can be slow at times (really hasn't been that much of a problem. Is probably caused by slower processor in phone compared to recent models - what you lose in speed, you gain in battery life - it's a fair trade off I think but worth mentioning)

Java is a little flaky (probably due to different RSA implementation)

Differences from L7:
Keypad arrangement/construction (plastic keypad on the L9 - keypad layout feels a little congested)
Different phone back (camera slot is bigger and will not fit the L7)
FM Radio
Updated software (similar to Z3 and K1)
2 MP Camera
2 GB SDcard support
No one has been able to remove RSA from phone
Crystal talk
Funlights support

I have to say this phone has hit the mark!
I don't know why there aren't more reviews on it. Maybe it's the candy bar form factor or maybe everyone goes for the US version (L7).
Either way if you use a phone in an environment with allot of background noise you will for sure want a Motorola phone with their new "Crystal Talk" technology. As mentioned in my previous review it really works and as I've experienced it works so well that on occasion the earpiece volume has gotten too loud.
And the speaker on the back, don't worry it's plenty loud.
PROS:
Entire back is rubber (helps grip phone)
Crystal Talk
Weight (Feels solid)
Good size (fits in jeans pocket)
GREAT reception (I'm on ATT/Cingular)
GREAT battery life
Blue back lighting
MicroSD
EDGE is pretty fast
Easy to customize
No one else has one!
CONS:
Front is smudge/fingerprint magnet
Need a small edge like toothpick or corner of a credit card to latch & unlatch microSD card (or if you have finger nails)

I liked the phone and it looks great, but unfortunately Bluetooth won't work on it.
Apparently since the phone was never offered in the U.S. it is not programmed to be compatible with American Bluetooth's.
This is what the Motorola customer service rep told me. I ended up returning it for a refund because of this. I did like it though.

Ok for the sake of getting some reviews of this phone here since there were none when I bought mine.
I’m giving it a 4 because I’ve only had it for a day. I’ll submit another review at a future date.
A little background on how I decided on this phone, as to help anyone else making the same chouses as I did.
I use my cell phone predominantly for talking and very little texting. I’m on AT&T’s network and was using an unlocked/unbranded Motorola V330. Witch as for my use was a great phone it was loud on both earpiece and speaker, the volume rocker was easy to use during a conversation, it always had rock solid reception, MP3’s sounded great as ring tones, MPT software worked fine with it. But the battery started to die within a day and the phone is a little bulky by today’s standards.
I won’t list all the phones I’ve tried as a replacement but a close 2nd was the RAZR2 V9. Put I didn’t keep it because I thought it was too much of a fingerprint magnet. Well the SLVR L9 is a fingerprint magnet too but not so much so as the RAZR2 V9, maybe because the L9 is narrower than the V9.
But as with the RAZR V9 the major selling point for this new SLVR is it has Motorola’s new “Crystal Talk”. Witch since I use a cell phone mostly for talking is a must. Basically Crystal Talk uses combination software & hardware to automatically give you the best audio quality during conversations on the earpiece or speaker. So far it works great, you really can tell a difference going from a quite to noisy environment while talking. Form factory of this phone is good as well, good size, good weight. The keypad is pretty nice as well, nice sticky feel to it like other ultra slim Motorola’s.
I bought mine unbranded and unlocked but unlike the other review this phone is not 3G capable, just check the specs. But if you’re a talker and don’t need broadband speeds on you’re cell phone skip the 3G phones, the battery life isn’t as good yet as regular GSM phones.
Buy this phone, yes.
