I went through 3 of these hoping that the first 2 came from a bad batch (first 2 had the same manufacturing date). But the 3rd confirmed it; These phones are crap. They have the worst call quality of any phone I've ever owned. Aside from the constant buzzing in your ear (especially when the backlight is on), this phone picks up entirely too much background noise. the slightest movement of the phone in your hand is picked up (those of you who have this phone test it by calling your home phone and listening).
For me, a phone must be a good phone first, everything else is secondary. and this phone is not a good phone. nevertheless here are MY pros and cons
Cons:
-VERY POOR call quality.
-Gets warm when using on 3G (i think)
Pros:
-Symbian-based OS; S60 v3 FP1 (& all that that implies)
-Active Standby plug-ins (only available on e-series)
-Small Bar form factor
-Wi-fi
-Dedicated App buttons
-Stainless Steel body (Rose steel looks like copper and not pink as the name may imply)
-Very nice bright screen (even though it buzzes)
-Great price (you can find this phone for around $280)
I wanted badly to keep this phone, I looked for every reason in the world to keep it. That's why i went through 3 of them. But the "CON" definitely out-weighed the "PROS".
I will eventually buy another one of these, with hopes that Nokia addresses this issue, in the mean time i got an N95-4 ...
Great little phone

Simply put, I love this phone. I been using Motorolas for some time now when I had Verizon, though exclusively used Nokia when I had AT&T Wireless Services. Eventually I switched back to Cingular at the time and picked this up on ebay real cheap.
I fell in love with it. It works very, very well. Wifi works great, though sometimes it is a bit slow to make a connection.
I wish email remembered which connection I used per session so I can read all mailboxes at once rather than connect to each one since I get work, personal, and internal emails to three accounts.
PROs:
Small, light weight
Excellent standby time
Apps available
Display quality
3G works great in Canada on Rogers
CONs:
Lack of GPS (why do I need to buy the extraordinarily priced E90 for this with QWERTY?)
Lack of 3G in US... why just 800 MHz AT&T?
Power port too small falls out easy if driving
Camera quality
Speech to Dial is awful, Moto's Razor has much higher quality
Wow I have more cons than pros, but seriously the cons are just gripes that I can live with.
Best biz phone

I've had the e51 (with camera) for about 1 month and I have to say that this phone is the best phone ever I have owned. I was reluctant to go back to Nokia (my first phone was a Nokia) but overall I'm pleased with the current re-vamping on this brand. Here are the functionality that I wanted on a phone:
- Thin: less than 14mm (WM phones are chunky and the OS is too buggy)
- WIFI: had to had a WIFI antenna
- Sync: had to be able to synch to my calendar for appts. & email
- Quadband: had to be able to use around the world
- Unlocked for under USD$300: Found it in amazon for $270 ( no other WM phone will give you such a deal for an unlocked version)
So after loving this phone here are my:
PROS:
- WIFI: I'm always on hotspots and a pleasant surprise was to find out I could download a VOIP app and now I can make cheap calls overseas over WIFI (you can set up your SIP number with current carrier or use their Gizmo wizard gizmoproject.com)
- Factor: very thin and stylish. The candy bar factor feels good and not cheap.
- Keys: feel very good to the touch and available custom keys with shortcuts that can also be customized. Saves you time instead of trying to find what you need through the menu.
- Mini USB port - phone can be used a flash drive
- Sync to Outlook (any Notes I believe)
- FM Radio
- Nokia labs apps available for free download
- Really fast OS
CONS:
- Mini USB does not charge, it only works for data transfers
- 3G available only in Europe
- Video calls only available in 3G
- Push-to-talk only available on certain networks
Practical and nice looking phone

I have the Nokia E51 from 1 week. It has a good standby time ( 3 hours radio listen 1 hour talking, 1 hour playing with the phone functionalities - 5.5 days standby ).
I like the fact that it's very slim, but in the same time is some "heavy"; it's not seems like all those plastic cheap phones ( around 60-70 grams, you know ... ).
The buttons are very nice to use; the radio also.
The display is crisp, the pixels aren't visible at all.
Wi-fi ( wireless LAN ) is nice-to-have. ;)
Good luck on buying your next phone !
no better than 6120 classic

This phone gets just as hot as the nokia 6120 classic, after 2 minutes of talking on the phone. Reception is as good as the 6120 classic, and the 2 mp. camera is just as bad. The only thing that this phone has that the 6120 classic does not is longer talk time, and thats it.
The Best Nokia yet

I've had my E51 for about 4 days now, I can safely say it is one of the best Nokia phones yet. I have been a nokia user for the past 10 years and I am stunned how awesome this phone is. Its small size is perfect, and it has every functionality I can think of. The only reason I did not give it a 5 is because this phone is not compatible with AT&T's 3G network.
